Today we're looking at STATX's Ableton Push 2. It has a jittery macro knob. Let's see if we can't get in there and fix this annoying problem. Check out STATX on IG: @statxmusic KZfaq: / statxmusic

I know I’ve thanked you on like 3 social media platforms already, but I gotta let the peeps of KZfaq know that it works like a charm now! Appreciate ya, appreciate the shoutout, and love the hidden message in the macro controls, lol. Solid video dude. Much love 👊🙏

Sooo relieved to hear that! This was a fun one, and we learned quite a bit. Can’t wait to see your clean up push 2 live again ✌🏽

Great video! love that jazz vinyl btw, Found it in a store in canada, my push 2 has been lying around since it has stopped working. doesnt detect basically, assuming i used it quite often without the adapter. now it wouldnt work just by the midi cable, could you please suggest what could be done. Thanks man
@sumawav8 ай бұрын
Does the unit power on when you connect it via midi? If not, it's probably the midi port that went bad over time from plugging/unplugging the cable. If this is the case, you'll have to replace it. It's a common part and not a super complicated repair.

Hey thank you for showing us the method to do ! Hey nouât was wondering what is the reference of the flux you use please ?
@sumawav2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I use this flux: Kester 1544 Liquid Soldering Flux, Activated Rosin, 2oz Bottle www.amazon.com/dp/B07K4F6SDM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_PBCXR01MSDZ0W96KES22?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 The important thing is to get a “no clean” flux. Even though it says “no clean” it is best to clean afterward with alcohol 👍🏽

Yo man just saw this video amazing work. I have a weird very bad problem with my question that is 2 damn tight screws. Are stripped and I’m unable to remove it it’s dam difficult and I am almost breaking the plastic. I do know what to do. Please help me
@sumawav Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the small screws on the back can be pretty hard to turn. You have a few options: You can try using a different screw driver. Try out a few different drivers if you can. Sometimes a different driver will have better luck gripping the screw. You can try cutting a small piece from a rubber band, place the rubber on top of the screw and then push the driver into the rubber and try to turn the screw. Sometimes the rubber can help the driver grip the screw. OR, you can get a driver made specifically to turn stripped screws. I’ve never used one, but I’ve heard that they work really well. Best of luck!

Hey man - are you open to doing repairs? I have a push2 with the same issue - and the pads in the lower left quadrant have worn down unevenly - and lost sensitivity due to uneven use of pads (this is a desgin flaw IMO) - I reached out to them to ask how much it would cost to fix - I knew it was out of warranty and wasnt looking for a freebee - and they refused to fix it. Im so pissed. I have been with live since V4! Spent at least $2000 over the years on Ableton products alone - and they keep raising the upgrade prices - and then this. Please help

Sorry about the late reply. Bad pads are a challenging fix. All I can really do is clean them and hope for the best. Lol, the video may not show it, but taking apart the push is a HUGE pain in the butt. Honestly, it's just not worth the effort without a guaranteed fix. Your best bet is to take it apart and clean the pads and pcb with alcohol.

nice video! i have a question ,my push 2 knob cap will falling off when i trun over my push,do you konw how to fix it ? thanks
@sumawav10 ай бұрын
Best option would be to get a new knob. OR you could try putting a tiny amount of putty or modeling clay inside the cap to help it stick to the knob. Lol, i would advise against glue since that would make it challenging to take apart in the future.

I've just bought a push 2 and have an issue where it's triggering the pad next to it. Is this a common issue? I've contacted the place i purchased it from to get a replacement, but i wondered if this is the norm
@sumawav2 жыл бұрын
It’s a common issue. But I don’t think it should be happening with a new unit

@@sumawav Thanks and great videos! I'm having a similar issue, it looks like the usb port on my Push 2 is fried. Any idea what I can do?
@@technocolortv the USB port is a common part. Here's one from amazon: www.amazon.com/Female-Type-B-4-Pin-Right-Socket-White/dp/B08MSYS1K5/ If you need some further help, check out my video on replacing the USB port on a Maschine mikro. Best of luck!

don't know unfortunately. If it won't power there might something wrong or damaged with the power circuitry.

Does anyone watching this have any experience with the USB port on the Push 2? My Push 2 will power on via the power supply but does nothing over USB. I did a continuity test from the four USB pins on the Push 2 mainboard. There seems to a physical connection between each of those four pins and their corresponding wires on the cable when plugged in, even so my computer doesn't see the Push. I thought perhaps a corrupt firmware update might mean there is no driver equivalent on the Push 2. All the same that should stop the Push powering up on USB power. Any clues welcomed. As Ableton no longer manufactures the Push 2, it seems unlikely they will offer tech support for anything other than their latest current model.
@sumawav10 ай бұрын
Extra strange especially if there's continuity from the pins to the wire. My first thought is the 4 pins may have bad or cracked solder joints. So you would see continuity between the pins and wires, but the PUSH doesn't see past the bad pins. This is super common, the physical act of plugging and unpluggin the USB cable can cause stress on those 4 pins. Remelting the solder on those pins *might* help re-establish their connection.
@chrisliddiard72510 ай бұрын
@@sumawav In the back of my mind I kind of know i have to resolder those 4 pins, but i needed someone else to say so. Anyway, I've now bought the Push 3, so I have nothing to lose. I shall try resoldering - edit to follow.
