I recently had work done on my Durango 3.6 Penastar. I had routine maintenance done at the dealership transmission oil and filter change and spark plug change. They offered to fix the pcv valve but with help of your videos I was able to do it myself. And your right it runs better. Thanks for saving me $250 at the dealership.

I just replaced the PCV a few days ago,before this video. Had to get a vacuum hose since I didn’t have the updated hose. Thanks for the part number to the new hose! Now I can go get one.

Will a bad pcv valve cuase my engine to kinda idle alittle bit weird ? Sometimes it’s idling normal and other days it’s kinda shaky and wants to stall untill rpms shoot back up again by itself. Also noticed bad mpg and an oil burning smell but no sign of leakage I did however pull out the dip stick and there’s was no oil at all. A bad one will cuase oil consumption and an engine tick almost like a knock right ? It’s a 2013 Chrysler 300 with 160k miles

Could this valve seal failing attribute to my engine burning oil? Spark plugs came up very dark at 75000 and I keep coming up short on oil changes .5 to a whole quart

Great video! I've got a 2014 Grand Caravan. PCV valve never been done. Do I need to be ordering the new hose or did it come with the 2 hole version? And is it T20 or T25 on those screws?

I think the 2014 was already done..but they will tell you and sell you the kit if needed. A warning will come up on the screen if yours was not updated at factory.

Hello my friend. Just so you know, FCA recommend replacing the PCV every 100k. Pretty much the same time they recommend spark plugs. I tend to disagree with that. I tend to stick with a more traditional schedule of around 60k. Ive seen PCV valve internals after waiting that long, not a pretty site. But if your engine running clean and ok, you should be fine with the 100k recommendation. Thanks for watching, please thumbs up the video and subscribe to the channel, thanks.

I changed the PCV valve on my 2012 Caravan 3.6L and it wasn't near as bad as the one I changed on my 2008 Caravan 3.8L. That one is on the valve cover on the back side of the engine and is very poorly designed. It has a large rubber seal around it that is indented around the middle and they usually break off at that spot. Then you have to go fishing with a curved pick and hope you can find the half of the seal that stayed behind. Some WD40 sprayed around the outside of PCV valve seal and small slow wiggles and asking for help from the Good Lord, can get them out without them breaking completely. My 2012 was a breeze comparatively.

Any update on your success on this task? I was thinking about tackling this myself. I'm sure it's never been changed on my '22 Grand Cherokee. I'm also going to be replacing the spark plugs, ignition coils, and all the other common tune up items...

@@Flyby-1000 got it done. You have to be an outside the box thinker and use what you have. Mine was a socket and some paper towel lol. Got it done but unfortunately it had nothing to do with my problem.

Only if that mixture made it to the valve train. I tend to replace that PCV anytime im dealing with oil leaks. Besides, its fairly inexpensive so ide just replace it.

Only if you blew the head casket. I just replaced my oil cooler because it leaked as well. Generally when you have to replace it , it's cuz the antifreeze mixed with the oil. If you check your oil and its not milky brown like coffee n cream, then your ok. But normally pcv valves should be changed out at every 90,000 miles

Hey brother, nice video! I've messaged you before where I mentioned my 2015 Grand Caravan with the 3.6 Pentastar. I change out my PCV about every 4th oil change, and she's still going strong at 320,000kms on the original engine and transmission. SOOO many people don't realize how important it is to replace the PCV. So, THIS question is a bit off topic, but do you happen to know where the power steering pressure switch is located on the 3.6 Pentastar?? I think mine might need replacing. When I turn the wheel all the way, the engine's trying to cut out.

Hey bud, I cant recall those Caravans having a power steering switch. Make sure your van able to breath properly. Meaning air filter not restricted and the throttle body clean.

Hello, I really need some advice on my 2015 3.6 jeep grand Cherokee. I've changed my pcv valve at the shop as recommended but I still have the same issue. There is massive amounts of oil coming from the pcv system causing smoke at start up. The shop recommended a oil catch can which I installed. The catch can will get filled in just two days of driving. Have you ever experienced this?

Hey bud, that sideways pentastar engine will have the PCV valve located on the rear head at the valve cover, its stabbed into the valve cover with 3 Torq screws. Remove the screw then pull it straight out..Thanks for watching, please leike the video and subscribe to the channel for me, thanks

Hey bud, on the grand cherokee the pcv valve is on the right side..This engine not side ways in this vehicle..you may not have to remove the upper plenium

i wish someone with this configuration would make a youtube video. Its against the firewall on the right side and all of the heater core pipes and power cables are around it. Impossible for a DIY person to even get to 1 screw -- let alone the one underneath. Mine's a 2011 Grand Cherokee 3.6L.

@@PhilDietznot impossible. Get a 1/4" wrench and a t25 bit. You only have to break the bolts loose then spin them out by hand. Get the Dorman replacement and it comes with hex bolts.

those TORXX screws dont grip well and i don't understand WHY european cars use them, ESPECIALLY in tight spaces...i love hex bolts/screws

Yea the hex screws are so much easier. That bottom bolt is driving me crazy. Luckily it won’t take that much pressure to loosen. It’s just getting in there. Hoses and the transmission dipstick in the way for my fat hands

That happens to be the same Pentastar engine, only its the generation 2 which makes it much better than the gen 1 found in the Caravans. It has a lot more power than my Cherokee which has the 2.4. Here at the dealer we hardly ever doing engine work on the 3.2. Not a bad choice.

That was a good engine but the technology has passed..they have to keep up with the other car makers in using dual overhead cam engines for better emissions.
