It's so much easier when you install the new lines to the turbo before putting it into place. Then you have someone underneath guiding the end of the oil line into the block while you're lowering everything. The 17mm is pretty simple as long as you go right above the belt/ac compressor. I used a deep wall with a 2-3" extension and it helped make life easier. I opted for the Stigan brand turbocharger, made in America! Also replaced all new gaskets, lines, etc. Everything out the door came to just under $700 and 3 hours of my time (with a few busted knuckles and scrapes)

Holy crap, we came up with the same tips 😂 when the oil return broke off in the block I bet you got pretty scared too

I recommend servicing anything else thats tough to work on when changing radiator. You must remove bumper and hood crossbeam which conveniently gives you godly space

Biggest issue with the manifold nuts is if there was any work done in that area previously they get over tightend very easily. Torqe spec is only 71 in/lbs. Also get the Dorman oil return its all steel.

Thanks for the tips. I am changing my turbo today. I am confident that all will go well. Whatever challenge I will face I will make a plan. I did however replace the oil return line before and know what a mission that is.

Taking off the 17mm isn’t hard, the hard part is putting it back on. All these videos gloss over the only difficult part of this install. Some videos skip installation all together.

the manifold nuts put a 10mm deep socket on first then run a long correct size torx through the socket screw the nut off with the torx bit

The lug that hold the header in place for the turbo you should of done them they opposite way the bottoms first and then the tops lugs/screws it would of been easier because their not holding the weight of the turbo but the bottom ones do hold the rest of the turbos weight

DIY Guy-- thanks for the tips. Many video's complain about Dorman parts in general. However, looking at their kit, it's the most comprehensive in terms of everything you might need. Including the V-Band around the turbo to converter. Any signficant differences between the fit and operation of the Dorman to the OEM? Is this a car still in your fleet, or something fixed for a customer. Any idea as to how many miles on the repair?

Good video thanks👍 How many miles/km did the turbo last? I have changed the oil feed line just in case. But still im just waiting for the turbo in my 2014 Insignia with same engine to go bad although I try to change the oil every 5000 miles or half a year😏.

how do i get the coolant line threaded into the engine? im having so much trouble

Save yall so much headach. reuse the old studs, do not use the ones from dorman. they sent e the wrong ones.
