Due to track renewal work, from 18 to 26 June 2022 the suburban railway line H8 operated on a split route, only between Örs vezér tere and Cinkota, and Kerepes and Gödöllő. On the missing section - between Cinkota and Kerepes - replacement buses were available. The H8 replacement bus ran full time, passing Kistarcsa hospital, while the H8E replacement bus ran without Kistarcsa hospital, only during peak periods on weekdays.
In Cinkota there is a steep level crossing that would have trapped the low-floor articulated buses, so the good old articulated Ikarus buses had to be used. As there were hardly any of these left near Budapest, the last examples were scavenged from all over the country.
The replacement involved these 10 Ikarus buses:
- GMY-382 (Ikarus 280 - 4 doors) Várpalota - Local
- AFF-671 (Ikarus 280 - 4 doors) Győr - Local
- CCZ-430 (Ikarus 289 - 4 doors) Győr - Local
- HFF-617 (Ikarus 280 - 3 doors) Győr - Interurban
- HJP-378 (Ikarus C80 - 4 doors) Szolnok - Local
- HCA-776 (Ikarus C80 - 4 doors) Salgótarján - Local
- LTE-942 (Ikarus C80 - 3 doors) Békés county - Interurban
- HZE-127 (Ikarus C80 - 3 doors) Békés county - Interurban
- HNF-492 (Ikarus C80 - 3 doors) Kazincbarcika - Interurban
- HNF-494 (Ikarus C80 - 3 doors) Kazincbarcika - Interurban
