Link to HIGH PERFORMANCE fill valve. Works great - amazon amzn.to/478X35X
Apparently the fill valve or the rubber inside it may of been bad. However the replacement fill valve spits water. The fill valve in the video the fluidmaster 400A is not like the OEM one but the Fluidmaster 400 PERFORMANCE MAX valve looks like the OEM. Get that one instead

I have the American Standard version of this . It's about 5 years old. I just took the valve system apart, cleaned all of the gaskets (there are several) and put some light grease on them and it seems to work fine now.. The exact replacement is like $26 here

TO AVOID A HUGE MESS... Use a little cup to scoop out the excess water from the back of the tank and then use a sponge or rag to soak up the little bit of water remaining at the bottom before unscrewing and pulling out the Fill Valve.

All you need to do is replace the top part of the fill valve. You don't have to remove the bottom part where it attaches to the tank, and all that mess. Takes about a minute. There's a little plastic retainer ring on the shaft of the valve that locks the valve to the shaft. Pull that ring up and pull the top part off. Do the same on the replacement valve. Then just put the new top part on, and re-seat the retainer ring.

Nahh Not when the fill valve cracks like this one later did and it whistles. Then the whole thing is shot But yes when the rubber hardens it can cause issues Its like $1 part

Put your thumb underneath the tank and use it to push the loosened valve UP. Replace the valve with the new one and use it to push your thumb down. You don't have to even use a drain pan, just a rag. (you are covering the hole with your thumb) That's what the pro's do. Or, there's stuff (LiquiLock) that turns the water to Jello (and then when you add more water, turns back to water) you can use.

Ya. Think I never got to romp one of those. Probably none are left they had the cool 20 inch wheels too, well some of them. They were super light wheels too one thing good about GM maybe the only thing left is that they built/ build a strong light weight alloy wheel. other brands. even Toyota? Weighed a TON! Toyota makes their wheels out of lead. Horrible weight. Ya in condo land all these shady people were in the pool maybe they are walking in again from the street, They think this place is a theme park. Strangers walk in use the pool then leave, and some old timers banked down the place from probably setting a BBQ on fire in condo land. One day I want to see a massive fire at the pools BBQ and point and laugh like Nelson on the Simpsons.

Stubborn "Ghost Fill" can occur when your water system becomes OVER-Pressure due to being on "city water" and having an expansion tank mounted near the hot water heater that has failed by becoming water-logged. Symptoms, laying in bed at 4am and no one has used the toilet or any faucet in HOURS. At random times, the hot water heater goes ON. When HWH turns on, water heats and EXPANDS, increasing pressure. Normally, extra water will flow into the expansion tank. If tank becomes "flooded, water-logged, clogged with sediment," your sealed water system has NO WHERE for extra water to go. Weak point in your entire house is the toilet fill valve. This weak valve is actually where extra pressure vents!

I have this exact toilet (it’s even in a really tight space just like the one in the video). I was looking to see how to remove the plastic nut from the water line because mine is stuck. When I try to move the nut/bolt from under the toilet it moves the entire Flushmaster 400 part. I was hoping to see what it looks like where the bottom of the flushmaster connects with the water line. If I knew how exactly they connect it might help me disconnect them. This type of toilet is in most of the bathrooms in my neighborhood of single family homes (not condos) that was built from 1968-72. I’m thinking they were probably popular in moderately priced new constructions during that time.

Hold the top of the fill valve then use some slip joint pliers like channel locks on the nut. Its not on that tight

@@GhettoWagon I finally got it off, but I had to destroy the flush master part. I’m sure that you are right that it wouldn’t normally be on that tight, but it wasn’t connected properly, and it was completely stuck.

Then this fill valve cracked a few years later
