In this video I show you how I replace a stick using just an iron. Drifting or sticking sticks can be a nightmare to deal with.

Exactly as the title states. For people who are new at this kind of work, you’ll be be left in the dark as very little explanation is produced in this video but you do see a joystick being repaired the right way though. People who are searching for these kind of vids are eager to learn so details like what’s a great soldering tool to use and solder along with temperature transfer while keeping the soldering tip tinned, using which brand module and where to buy along with the usage of flux and desoldering wick etc... would go a long way for ppl viewing this video.

@BristolMatt4 жыл бұрын
@@wranefis that's a shame. Well I read ages ago that the sticks have to be collaborated properly by Microsoft, which is why buying the sticks elsewhere is a bad idea as they will most likely drift in some other way. I have brought sticks from Amazon and I'm expecting new drift issues after iv soldered them tbh. This might not be what the problem with yours was, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I had an issue with my left stick drifting up. I followed your tutorial and replaced the stick assembly. I put everything back together, and I loaded up the controller config to make sure all the buttons were working, and for some reason now when I press the A button it thinks it's the B button, and randomly the the triggers would input and the right rumble would go off. Any idea what's going on? Did I accidentally touch something with the soldering iron and break it? I'm a beginner at soldering, and definitely wasn't as careful as I probably should have been.

Ever have a problem with the new modules not being calibrated to the PCB?
@Solder_king3 жыл бұрын
This has been asked a few times but when I replace a stick I measure the pots first to make sure they're near perfect in resistance from wiper to output. I have a video coming up about calibration. Stick around!

I'm Brazilian and my English is not that good, but I'd appreciate if you could explain two questions: 1 - how did you get soften multiple dot solder and remove the potentiometer in one time? That did that paste you use delay the hardering? When a try to do the same, i soften the first dot solder and it solidifies soon as i get the soldering iron off to go the next dot . 2 - what is this stuff you use to suck the solder? Is it a specific instrument? Do you think I get to find it here in Brazil? Tnank you sir and congrats for the job.

Você acha sugadores de solda bem baratinho no ML, preciso tomar vergonha na cara e comprar um tbm
@dejjotah2 жыл бұрын

Did you replace it with a stick with the same resistance in the pots? Most are standard but if it's off a little you'll see a difference.

I used a stick from eBay, if I swap the potentiometer across, should that resolve ? Many thanks

@@borisarchby2 it could only if the pots are in good shape and if that's the issue. The mech for the stick could also be at fault.
