Thank you so much for showing how you jack up the car, and place the jack stands. I was having a heck of a time trying to figure out where to put the jack stands based on other videos. But, yours was extremely clear, and worked like a charm!! The rest of the video was helpful too. (2010 RX450h)

THIS IS HOW YOU DO A BRAKE JOB! Thank you for doing everything correctly. It's a shame that even the "professional" technicians won't do a few simple steps to ensure a like-new brake job has been completed. The opening of the bleeder screw before pushing the piston back in is the major issue with most. The other part is cleaning the rust from the hub mating surface, and the third is the the simple check and adjustment of the parking brake. Good job on this video!

Man, this vid is the bomb! And SO glad I don’t have a 2016+, w/the crazy servo! Mechanic wanted to charge me $695 for rear brake job. I spent $300 on OEM parts and spent about 4hrs doing the job (I am slow). But saved $400+. And I know the job was done correctly :). Again, insane video! Hoping you have more vids, and more to come!

Wow that's awesome! That's what this is all about, trying to help people do it themselves and encouraging them to do so! I do have a couple more vidoes lined up for this car. I also have a front brakes video already out, oil change will be next!

Great video. Just bought the rotors and pads for my 2010 RX350. I've done the front already, so the rear should be no problem...I did notice you omitted the clips on the new pads...unless you put them on and didn't show it...I'm of the mind that I'll replace the pads long before they'll start squealing, so I might omit them on the rear as well...also, the parking brake adjustment - you want to be able to hear them just touching the rotor, but not binding?....I'll give that a try as well...never adjusted them before. Great video...Cheers!

If i didn't put the wear indicators on that means I must have had an oopsie moment and forgot to put them on. As for the parking brake shoes, yeah, you want them to hear them barely touch. Any resistance will result in them overheating as you drive and as they heat up they expand which results in even more friction and on goes the cycle.

Very savvy step by step instructions. However, after losing few brake fluid when expanding the calipers on bleeders you missed to make sure your brake fluid container is on the specs label indicador. Anything else was just fine. Thanks!

Nice video. Is the brake dust cover attached to the nuckle or what? no-one has made a video showing how to replace it. TIA

Yes it's on the knuckle. To replace it you may have to remove the hub, which means removing the wheel bearing. Usually if it needs to be replaced you can just cut the old one off and not put one back on and not have to deal with it.

Thank you for your video I changed my rotor and my brake pad and then when I depressed the brake, it had hissing sound and then gone. I closed the valve tightly but i wonder if it has air in the brake line ?

Does the pedal not build pressure? If it doesn't, and you opened the bleeder, then it sounds like you have air in the system and you need to bleed. If you have no air in the system, then most likely what you heard was the master cylinder hissing as you depresses the pedal until it builds pressure.

If you cannot push in the slider pin with the rubber piece at the tip, it means there is air in the boot, because it refuses to go in all the way. Take a flat heat screw driver and simply lift the rubber's boot end to let the air out. My 1st time changing brake, I got stuck on that for 15 minutes and kept wondering why!

True. However that can also be caused by the little sleeve being swollen, in which case it need to be replaced. In a pinch it can also be completely removed and installed without it until a new one is sourced. That is if you need the car and have no other option. It will function just fine.

Thank you so much for this video. Extremely well done. I have a couple of questions. How do I know if I need to replace both the pads and the rotors? My 2014 Lexus RX350 has 92,000 miles on it and the dealer told me the rear brakes are in the yellow and need to be replaced. Below is the list of things the dealership told me I needed to have done. Brake fluid flush Yellow rear brakes Air filter BG Throttle Body Service. I have changed the air filter before, I know I can do that easily. I have replaced brake pads on a 1995 Ford F-150, a 2000 Toyota Sienna. I plan to change the rear differential fluid as well. The dealership told me it needed replacing a year ago. I did allow the dealership to replaced the automatic transmission fluid.

Hi, Great questions. I usually recommend replacing the rotors, especially if they are old, worn, or damaged by rust or have grooves in them. Brake fluid flush is also a good idea for sure. If the car has never had that done, it's not an emergency but definitely a good idea. The air filter is easy to replace, once you get those annoying plastic covers off of the engine bay. Check it. If it's dirty, replace it. They're cheap. As for the throttle body, I don't see any reason to have to touch it. So for that I would say no, it should not need any cleaning or servicing. I hope this helps!

I don't quite understand the parking brake shoe part starting at 6:44. I could barely hear of the parking brake shoe what it should sound like. Do you leave the adjuster wheel pulled out after adjustment or you leave it pulled out?

The adjuster spins, doesn't pull in or out. You need to spin it until you can hear the shoes touching, then back it off one click. You don't want those dragging as you drive.

Hi the little retainer that latches onto the pads(I don't see them in your videos) do they go up or down on the pad and is that the same for rear and front?

Yeah some kits come with them, some don't. If there is only one I put it on the side that touches the rotor first. So let's say you're working on the front driver's side brakes, and the caliper is mounted on the backside of the knuckle, not the front side. I'd put the spring clip on the bottom so it spreads the pads out as the rotor goes into them. If the caliper was mounted on the front, I'd put it on the top of the pads for the same reason. Hope this helps!

@@AutoFixYT There is one per pad. I looked at an original Lexus rx350 brakes and in front they were installed at the top and in the back they were installed at the bottom.

Why did you loosen the bleeder valve? I’ve never had to do that unless I’m bleeding it.

It's good practice to open the bleeder with every brake job. For two reasons... 1. It allows the fluid to come out of the caliper as you push back the piston, as opposed to traveling the opposite way back up the system which can ruin things if you accidentally squeeze the pisto too fast. 2. It allows you to get some old fluid out and new fluid in every time you change your brakes. So it keeps it the brake fluid kinda sorta fresh. You still have to flush it every few years but it's less likely to get old and stale this way as opposed to never adding to the old fluid. Hope this helps!

do those TRQ brakes make noise and give alot brake dust? i heard that brand not that good? heard wagner and raybestos better?

No noise whatsoever, they actually perform very well! I've pushed those on my personal cars pretty far and they hold up. As for the brake dust, there is some for sure. More than your typical Toyota OEM pads. But I'd say they're the same as most other average aftermaket brands of pads.
