Worked like a charm. I had a small bottle of eyeglass cleaner that has that has a long top narrow to wide...I slid that one for a minute while I got the plastic wrap on the shifter handle, then I took it off of the small bottle and slide it right on the shifter handle. took about 2 minutes...awesome..thanks..

Boy, did you save me some time! I didn't look at a clock but I think it was well UNDER 5 minutes. The only thing I did different than your process was to put saran wrap over the end of the shifter to eliminate any chance that soap would get down into the transmission overdrive button on the end. That's the only "opening" that could be affected by the soap. I was a little concerned about splitting the small end of the boot but with a little aggressive tugging and liberal Dawn, it came over the fat end of the shifter. Thanks for the great tip.

I was concerned about the small end, too...that rubber has got some stretch to it, though. Glad I was able to help. The Saran wrap is a great idea.

Extremely easy took less than three minutes where it would’ve taken three hours at least the other way!! Same procedure works for a 2003 Ford Expedition

Thank you. I thought I had to remove the shifter. I have to say, mine (after-market) wasn't as easy. I soaked it in hot water and lubed it. I still ripped it a little.

Took mine to a "professional" and he destroyed the boot. Split the entire side and claimed it was installed correctly. I have to purchase a new one which I will install. I'm pissed.

Most of the other commentors were more impressed. Have you tried this method? BTW, it's almost always Miller Time at my house.

Just imagine you're paying a repair shop, and this is what the guy is doing... 🤦♂️
@bradleypollack56583 жыл бұрын
The repair shop would’ve done the same thing and charged you three hours for that other work per shop manual

okay, and? if u are going to a repair shop jsut to fix a little trim piece i think thats your own problem lmao. if you arent smart enough to look up a video online (like this one) and do it yourself, you deserve to get taxed on the bill😂😂
