I'm replacing the auto bilge pump on a 1984 Ranger 395-V i/o bass boat. I recently bought this awesome boat and have been restoring it. This boat has a Mercruiser 260 (350 Chevy) engine that I pulled out to do some repairs. This is a dual action auto/manual bilge pump with built in float. When I bought the boat it had one manual bilge pump. I like the auto feature because it will automatically start pumping water out of your boat if you should take a sudden wave or if your boat starts leaking.

Did you go from a 2 wire pump to a 3 wire, adding the hot direct to the battery?

On this boat, I have 2 switches for the bilge pump- one auto and one manual, so I connected to those circuits. On my other boat, I did run the auto wire directly to the battery with an in-line fuse for the auto feature.

They are for the front and rear live wells.

What engine came in that boat? I've got an 88 395 v with the 320 horse mercruiser and I'm not sure I've ever seen another one.

It’s a Mercruiser 260. I haven’t seen another 395V I/O in person, either.

i cant find any video on how to remove the gas tank in my boat that presumably - is covering the dead bilge pump. Mine is an 2 stroke outboard. Under the hatch from left to right is a large'ish oil tank, the LARge gas tank, then the battery bank. Good video btws.. tks

On my Ranger 330V, I had to remove the 3 batteries and battery boxes. There were two brackets held in by screws I had to remove. Then I had to remove the fuel line going to the engine and plug it. There’s a hose clamp on the fuel hose and the vent hose that have to be removed and then pried off. The trick was being able to remove the tank without spilling the remainder of the gas. I capped the fuel line outlet and then I picked up the tank and-- lifting the end where the fill hose went, out first so as not to spill fuel. I removed the tank and poured the remainder of the fuel in a gas can so when I went to reinstall it was empty and easy to install. Thanks for the idea- maybe I’ll make a video on it in the future.

Just using the zip ties for the wiring, not the hoses!

Looks like you used the zip ties to hold the bilge pump down.... u better off using 5200 or something to hold it down flat to the hull. Zip ties move around... great video by the way.
