I remember years ago when Ford road tractors were using Cat 3126 engines, we used to always get a situation where the was low oil pressure at the HEUI pump. I was replacing the IPR on a regular basis till one day I decided to take it apart. There is a very small hole on the shaft of the IPR, that hole would get the slightest bit of trash stuck in it and cause a no start issue. When the solenoid in energized, it pulls a metal pin/bullet through the tube, this is what I believe regulates the pressure going through the IPR, if that metal bullet is compromised in any way it will upset the pressure demanded at the injectors. Its been 20 years since ive messed with this type design, but im really enjoying your videos.

We replaced all fuel injectors and fuel pump. The injectors only had 3 good out of eight. We changed all. We made many attempts to start truck but won’t quite start. We are only getting about 400 pounds from the high pressure oil pump during the starting procedure. The high-pressure oil pump has never been replaced and has over 400,000 miles on it. What pressure should the 73 beer when you’re trying to start the motor? Could the High pressure Oil pump be the reason it won’t start if it’s bad? Your thoughts?

I have a question for you. I have an 00 f350 with the 7.3l only has 90k miles was a pit truck was never abused. Runs great but it's a bitch to get started first thing in the mourning usually have to crank it over 4 or 5 times before it will finally fire up. But dosemt show another symptoms of any kind. Do ubthink it's the hpop or the low pressure pump. When I run it threw my mind it feels like its loosing g pressure over night and have to crank it a bunch for it to build presure back up for it to catch.
@Submarine_SeXJ
@Submarine_SeXJ 6 ай бұрын
@@BarryPacock-is8ld well if you let it sit for a over night in the morning pull the plug to the hpop reservoir if there no oil in it then your LPOP is on its way out. Could also be a classic case of glow plugs/glow plug relay. When my hpop started going out I wouldn’t start at all unless oil temp was above 80°

I am getting fault codes from my oil pressure switch failure and icp sensor I switched them both out and my IPR and all wires are good could my Oil pump be going out any suggestions
@ProjectTimeGarage
@ProjectTimeGarage 2 жыл бұрын
It may be worth checking the low pressure oil pump. If it isn't sending enough oil up top, then the High Pressure pump will not be able to generate enough pressure. Start with an oil pressure reading with a manual gauge on the LOW pressure side. If that's good, then the IPR/HPOP are the next most likely culprits.

Low reading on the High Pressure Oil system during hard acceleration. Basically floor it and make sure you have 2,500 to 3,000psi of high pressure oil. If the pressure drops off quickly, or doesn't build that high then the pump is a suspect.

Thank you. I have the same truck. 1999. The only year they put, V8 tag on the front of the front fender. Mine is a 6 speed manual. I crank it endlessly. Won't start. I put battery charger on it, and a shot of starting fluid in the air filter box. Then it starts. Could it be my, HPOP? I've had Injectors, Glow Plugs, Intake Wiring Harness replaced 25,000 miles ago.
@ProjectTimeGarage
@ProjectTimeGarage Жыл бұрын
First thing is first. You need to see what the high pressure oil rail is doing while you're cranking. HPOP is a potential issue, but so are a lot of other things. Basically, it sounds like you have to crank the truck a lot to get high pressure oil enough to actuate the injectors. Use a scanner and see what the HPOP is doing during cranking.
