Only seen this video but my immediate impression is you've got similar vibes as Bob Ross. I don't feel like I've ever seen anybody so calm and unbothered while working on a car. Great video, very helpful. Thank you

Well, 8 months ago I replaced the VTEC Solenoid, after first having replaced just the filter/gasket. Two days ago, I replaced the Oil Pressure Switch. and yesterday, I did it. I replaced this VTEC Filter Assembly. You worked on an Element. My granddaughter has an '03 CR-V. The process is the same, though. It was generally straight forward, but a few things were annoying. 1. In a CR-V, there is nowhere to put the PS reservoir so that it's out of the way. And in the way it was, all day. 2. Who is the genius who decided to use a nut on the back of the tensioner pulley? All the other bolts have threaded holes in the mount. After three times of trying to secure that nut long enough to thread the bolt in, I finally had to stick a fingertip against the nut while trying to put the pulley on and then start the bolt with the other hand. And speaking of bolts, 3. I sure could have used another joint on my arms, about 3 inches up my forearm, to help get my hands into those tight spots. 4. Next time, I'll buy a power ratchet before I try this again. Overall, it was a good thing I changed the Filter Assembly. That little rectangular gasket was flattened and literally shredded. I'm convinced that's from where all my oil was leaking.

@@clintsearcy3252 Yeah, but get this - granddaughter calls me tonight from work to tell me her car died and won’t start. I go over, jump it, and then test the system - alternator no output. So now, I have to pull all that out again (and then some more stuff!) to replace the alternator!!! Don’t know if I’m going to pull the intake manifold or the radiator frame, overflow tank, and fan unit yet, but since I have new fans, I’ll probably do them now. If I don’t, they’ll die next week, you and I both know! Aaaarrrrrgggghhh! Pray for me! 😡

@@jimtownsend7899did any power steering fluid get in the alternator.? Usually cover the alternator with plastic and rags if/when removing power steering hose.

@@glennhansel9411 Yes, I’m sure a mixture of PSF, oil, and brakeclean got into the alternator, because 2 days later, smoke was billowing out of the alternator, and then it was no longer charging. I replaced the alternator, but still had problems. That turned out to be a defective alternator, and it’s replacement is working fine. But now I know that I have to follow your advice and cover that alternator. It’s an avoidable problem, especially when the alternator is in a very inaccessible place. Older and wiser now!! Thanks!

Dam that's alot of parts in the way. Thank you for identifying the part # for this. Had no idea what to even call it to search for it. I'm planning on doing the vtec solenoid kit hanging in the back of the engine. Might just take it into a shop for this replacement tho, hmm...

Great video! I personally slid the belt out of the way and tucked it between the overflow reservoir then moved the pump up with the 2 bolts disconnected on the top hose and just jiggle it out slowly (make sure to get an o ring if you don’t trust it but i reused mine with no leaks) and zip tied it up and then all I had to do after the PS pump was out was remove 3 tensioner bolts (and not the pulley) you can definitely get to that bolt, it takes finesse, and patience and if you don’t have that Jack up the motor and remove that engine bracket that way you don’t have to worry about losing the nut on the back of the pulley! Save yourself the hassle of losing that nut and having to get towed back home like I did a few months back when I tried to do my tensioner

Nice video 👍 07 Accord 160k, mine is leaking. I thought it was the powersteering unit, but it wasnt. First the screen on the otherside was leaking, did that, then my valve cover gasket was leaking on the notorious rear driver's side, did that too, and now this little sucker is leaking. Makes sense i guess as they were all installed at the factory at the same time lol. I need to replace the tensioner so i'll do it all in one shot as soon as it gets warm outside. I'll also change the PCV valve just incase its over pressurizing the system. I doubt it, the rubber seals on the others were really brittle, but can't hurt. There is ever slightly more room on the Accord. Like 1 inch more lol

It's the nut that holds the idler pulley that he spins at 2:50. You can see where the nut goes at 4:02 - it sits in the hex shape below "made in canada" and the bolt goes through the earlier idler pulley into that hole/nut.

great video. I'm dreading this one, but I just did the rear screen, so the side screen ought to get done too. What's the torque spec for the screen cover? I had to (stupidly) estimate the torque on the rear. No wrench :(

@jimtownsend7899

For the back one (VVT Spool), it's 8.7 ft.lbs. I imagine it's probably about the same for this one. If you torque them too tight, the gasket gets over-compressed and flattens out, which will actually cause it to leak. How do I know? Let's just say experience.

I know this is an older video. But having the same issue. I’ve changed vtec solenoid. Tried 3 different oil pressure switches. The vtec solenoid on the passenger side of the head and an oil and filter change as well as new wiring harness. The screen/ gasket behind the power steering pump is the one thing I’ve not replaced yet. Did it help yours?

Clint, Unless I'm crazy, did you forget to re-install the pulley on the tensioner? I watched it three times, and didn't see it. I'm sure if you did, you went back after the video and put it back on, since you'd need that to make everything work. I'm only asking because otherwise, I'd go crazy.

You're crazy. But I see why it looks that way. Sometimes when I am putting things back together, I don't show as much detail. Here's is me tightening the 14mm bolt that holds the tensioner pully. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j9-Ua6mm2MunoKc.html

@@clintsearcy3252 OK, thanks. In retrospect, I saw the pulley on the tensioner when you were attaching the power steering pump. I just didn't realize it at first, because you didn't show that part. And there's nothing wrong with being crazy. It's better than being insane, like everybody except me! 😜
