have you tried some websites for tree identification? There should be definitly some available in the US. They usually show habitat, bark, leaves, seeds and so on so you can identify the tree to some extent. And you don't know why your GPS send you the wrong way, maybe it was destined to be that way that you found this particular tree. Keep it save

If it's not compacted down to clay, it should be fine. Some people like to display with fancy top soil, or moss. That's just the top layer. If you buy amended soil, and do not fertilize, then it may still be beneficial to mix it with new amended soil for the micro nutrients. Otherwise, go for it. Some varieties like compact soil. Oaks are one of them, those roots...

good luck and lots of happy memories on your journey. It is better to start with a few, but diverse, specimens of trees than to never start at all. At the beginning it has to be nothing fancy or old and expensive, but to learn how to care for your trees and be patient and to hear and watch the trees to tell you what you both can do and which way you can go to grow. Time will give you the experience with more and more trees to work with and to not only keep them alive but to let them thrive. And remember there is no time but today to start regardless of age. You can start at a few years old or when you are grey or bald and anytime in between

Love your videos peter but that machine running in the background made this almost impossible to watch. It drowns out your voice.

We have four oaks on our nursery which are possibly 300 years old. Our Wiremill Lane has a 600 year old history. In medieval times, the local ironstone was smelted and then brought to the Wiremill to be make into nails and wires.

@@peterchan3100 my comment was only a bad joke - it may be a very large oak bonsai but it is a very small oak tree. Interesting comment though, you should upload videos about your nursery and its history.
