Great video & very informative. I'm getting ready to repot my 6inch ruby rubber plant. What size should the new pot be? Type of pot? Do they do well with terracotta pots? or is this pot too porous and will require frequent waterings.

Yes. These plants do not mind much a tight pot. I could keep this plant in it longer but often watering pushed me to move it to a larger pot. :) Thank you for watching 🌱

Hello Lana, Thank you for watching our videos. I am glad they are helpful. Sounds like you are overwatering your plant :( Watch my video about how to save an overwatered plant for some important tips: bit.ly/3qtI1T6 As long as the roots are still healthy, the plant will recover! Your Money Tree will be happy growing in its new self-watering pot. Make sure to check plant's roots when repotting and cut out any damaged/rotting roots. ** It is important to WAIT for the soil to dry almost all the way through before watering your plant/refilling the reservoir. Here is the video about how to water plants in self-watering planters: bit.ly/3bWSmRs Soil Moisture Meter (the tool I use in the video) bit.ly/2yuXVpc will help you to know when the soil is dry enough and your plant is ready for a drink. For the Money tree, the meter reading should be in the red (2-3) zone before watering. Green Luck! 🌱

Love the video! I have a "small" Ficus Elástica Tineke (right now has 20 leaves) and I just love her. I was scared at the beginnning because I heard a looot that they were kinda picky, but mine grow faster than my Monstera... so I have more questions about monsteras, actually lol jajajaja. Regards from Chile!

Hi Dani, 😀 Thank you for sharing. Monstera plants can be moody (most of the time due to over watering). Pot with drainage - important! Allow the soil to dry well before watering these plants, don't allow to sit in water after watering. Green Luck! 🌱

Hi, I have a rubber tree and I bought it indoors 3months ago for the winter. And now my plant is drying and and the leaves are brown and folded in and very dry although the soil is very moist. Should I repot it or propagate or prune it? Thank you in advance
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants Жыл бұрын
Hi Maryam, Yes, best to take the Rubber plant out of its pot and examine the roots to make sure they are all healthy, and trim the bad ones. Repot in fresh potting mix in a pot with drainage. Make sure the pot is just 2-3 inches larger than the root system. If the pot is too big - overwatering will become an issue. Remove all bead leaves. Stems that don’t have many leaves - Prune those back. Water the plant when the soil is dry! Best to get the soil moisture meter mycityplants.com/collections/indoor-plant-tools/products/soil-moisture-meter Test the soil with this tool once every 7-10 days. Water the plant when the meter reading in dry zone Feed your ZZ plant Spring - Summer Here is our video about when and how : m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d5aPlceW17y3eqs.html May your plant grow happy and healthy! 🌱

Hi there! I have a rubber plant of 3 years now in a 12 inch diameter pot. There are 6 shoots and 2 of the shoots are about 30 inches tall. However, they are very thin stems and tend to fall over without support. Is there any way I can prune or replant this pot so it grows stronger and becomes more tree-like?
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants Күн бұрын
Hi! Yes, you can prune your rubber plant. You can also divide it and pot each stem separately. Pruning will force the plant to branch out + will make its stem stronger. Here is a helpful article about how to prune Rubber plants: bit.ly/465kNIY Green Cheers & Thank you for watching!

I would love to buy one of these pots for my tall plants like my large Monsters, but with it being so top heavy, won't this type of pot tip over? Can it support the weight of a plant that is very tall and full at the top? Thank you! Love your videos!
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Ester, Thank you for watching 🌱 Rubber Tree and Fiddle Fig Tree you can see in this video are top heavy as well but are pretty steady in these pots 😀mycityplants.com/collections/lechuza-floor-planters/products/lechuza-rondo-40-planter-white Keep in mind that you can always prune your Monstera back if one side gets heavier than the other or plants gets too big overall. Green Cheers!

Should I let my rubber tree dry out completely? How do I get my plant to branch out more ?
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching! 🌱 Not completely! 3/4 way down. Watering: I strongly recommend getting the Soil Moisture Meter bit.ly/2yuXVpc This tool will help you to understand when your plant is ready for a drink to avoid over or under watering. For Rubber plants: - test the soil with the meter once every 7-10 days - water when the moisture level is down to red zone (2-3) Pruning: You may prune the longest branches back. Best time to prune plants is March through late September, during an active growth phase. Cutting may be propagated in water. ***Will add these questions to my Q&A video about Rubber plants Green Luck!

Hello! I recently got a bird of paradise from Costco and I have two questions. 1st how can I fix the droopy and the wrinkles on the leaves. The second question is every time I leave it outside it gets brown spots and I find that weird because bird of paradise love sun, how can I fix this? Thank you so much!
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ali, Check the roots to make sure they are healthy Repot your plant in a pot with drainage Feed it from March till end of September If the plant gets sun all day, some leaves might get spots. Best to have it placed in a spot with indirect or partial sun exposure. Here is the link to our BOP playlist where you may find more information about how to grow these plants: bit.ly/3h6j1OQ Green Luck! Thank you for watching 🪴

My rubber plant isn’t doing well. The leaves are falling off and there are some leaves with brown/black spots. What do I do ?
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Sounds like we have a watering issue. In my experience, Rubber plant prefers to have its soil dry almost all the way through before getting a drink of water. Drainage is very important as well! Soil Meter bit.ly/2yuXVpc is a great tool to have for establishing a proper watering frequency. For the Rubber plant, meter reading should be down to zone 2-3 before watering and up to the WET zone after watering. You need just 1 tool for an unlimited number of plants. * Do not keep the meter in the soil. Use it ONLY to test the soil once every 7-10 days. Make sure the plant is in a bright light spot! Green Luck! Thank you for watching 🌱

What happens to the lechuza planter you removed the plant from? Those planters are expensive, are they reusable? you don’t throw them away do you?
@Mycityplants
@Mycityplants 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, planters can be reused unless the plant was so root bound that it deformed the planter. We even had to cut some pots to free up plants for repotting - see here bit.ly/3a1XK5A It is best to repot plants once every 2-3 years before they get too root bound. Thank you for watching 🌱
