Yep and make damn sure no one is being unsafe with them. I always have my guns put in a safe unless I'm going to a shooting range or if I'm going to shoot someone breaking into my home or defending my own life.

Firearms aren't bad. My dad is a retired police officer and taught my brother and I to shoot when we were kids. I went into the military and enjoyed not only range days, also aerial gunnery. My daughter loves range days as well. If you're properly trained, you'll be fine.

That's why you check the gun to see if it's loaded before making the first shot. Even if you are sure it's not loaded. Safety comes first before anything else. Always.

Don't blame it on the gun, blame it on the idiot teenager who should know better or the parents who knew they had an idiot son, yet didn't help it put away. Guns are too be respected. They aren't toys, and when used correctly, save lives. Like mine. A female who was about to be assaulted. It puts you on the same playing field as criminals and don't belong in idiots hands.
