Just wanted to add a HUUUUUUGE THANK YOU. Surface Pro 2017 with almost no use went into the loop and I was convinced it was scrap. Followed your simple instructions and its completely fixed - at the least you have saved me a couple of hundred pounds for a repair technician, at best a couple of thousand pounds on a new machine. The only video that helped me to set up my Surface Pro 7 out of the other thousands of Video i watched . Just one thing - while starting i pressed the power and volume down button which lead me to the screen . The rest was as per the video help . Many thanks for the video .

My SP4 was not loading files from USB because I copy pasted the entire extracted zip folder into the USB. The issue was resolved when I only copied file of the extracted folder. The system was not detecting boot files because they were inside the folder. I purchased a used surface pro 4 today. I just learned to install the windows from you. Thank you so much. God bless you.

For my surface go tablet, i did exactly this. Got to the point of doing everything in this video correctly, thought that i fixed the issue and as soon as i turned on my tablet, it said that there was still no bootable device. At this point i think i might just sell the tablet to someone for parts and get a new one, thanks for the video, it did help. But not for my tablet

Just curious? I've seen about a dozen troubleshooting tips and tricks and a bunch of questions regarding the data. I work for a company where we have a stock of Surface for our users. No pressure to replace a unit if need be. I want to know about "data recovery"? Is there a way to save the data? That's my question? Folks are giving you lots of "High Five" but will this get me to a place to retrieve or restore data?

on the top right of the BIOS you can see the reason or, what made it go to BIOS. If you went to the bios with buttons, you will see the buttons. If you see a HDD then it means it could not boot because corrupted installation or does not have an OS installed

Mine doesn’t read the usb there were 2 different files, after inserting my usb stick in my surface pro 4 how long I have to wait to start caching all files

Hi guys! I met this issue then searched on youtube how to fix it and i found this video. I've read all the comments here. I had a problem too at the last step. "there was a problem or sth when recovering your PC". I had no idea. Then i chose "cancel" then "turn your Pc off". But i couldnt give up so i powered it on again. I didn't remember exactly but i might do it one or twice. Then. So surprised and happy cause it worked. Omg. Hope all of you who met the same issue can recover it successfully. Have a nine night! (10pm when i was writing this comment)

Hopfully you see this. I have tried using the flashdrive to recover but every time i try resetting it or recovery, it crashes. I cant try to fix the crashes because now it only boots from the drive and not windows 10. Do you have any ideas of what I should do?

Tried the same steps, still not working, it tells me "there was a problem resetting your PC. no changes were made." also tried some commands in prompt and there's no response. I got something like "the boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found" Also I'm stuck here in this dir (x:\windows \system32>) I couldn't change the dir to "C". I tested some commands like (bcdedit and Fixmbr) and (diskpart to change the dir and I get "the system partition was not found") and NOTHING. Do you think my surface hard drive has gone for good =(
