Thank you for watching! We hope you like the video and consider subscribing!
In this video we are back on the 69 charger that we rescued from the movie stunt world, and are bringing back to life. The roof was so badly mangled that we aren't sure if we can save it or if we have to go more out of pocket and pay for a new roof skin. With a little help, and a lot of time, we start massaging these dents out and trying to reverse all the kinks in the metal. We had to use a grinder to clean up some of the rusty jagged cuts and holes in the roof before we could weld in some new patches. Let us know how we are doing on the roof in the comments below. There is still a lot of body work to do on this car, but it is exciting how every step makes a difference and brings this car one step closer to being done!
We have another video coming out next week, we upload every friday, so keep an eye out for that!

My favourite part... Tim: 'Owen have you fixed worse?' (Dramatic pause as he really thinks about it...) Owen: '.... No.' I died! Lol😂

You guys have the patience of Noah to spend so much time on the roof. My concern is the roof has lost its temper and rigidity of a compound curve. I'd want to add a few bows across the roof or fiberglass it under the vinyl. Well done gentleman.

Thank you! Ya it was bad, still a bit more to go with it. But you are bang on! We've been thinking that some extra supports underneath would be a wise move. Never thought of fiberglass under the vinyl though, very cool idea!

car panels get their strength through shape, not temper - it's just mild steel. once you get it back to shape it'll stay there.

Body Spoons would have been a great help on the roof as well as a "Dent Fix" style pin stud welder to make double wall pulls ! Cheers !

I’m a fellow Ontarioan lol. I have a 96 ram Cummins wanting to learn how to weld body panels with flux core. I see you weld that way. Do a video of setting and how you make patches and weld in.

Nice work, If you have access to a power hammer and an English wheel, perhaps a better repair would be remove the roof. Repair the skin and the inner structure. Especially if you are replacing the quarters. Is this an XS or XP car?
@RustedRides

Didn't think to remove the roof tocdo the repairs then put it back on... That would be a approach

Heat a dime size spot the cool with a wet rag will shrink, hammer and metal dolly will stretch and hammer with hardwood or delrin dolly will just flatten. Metal dolly with delrin hammer same deal. Shrinking disc on a polishe and stud gun will be your best friend.

What exactly is an English wheel??!
@RustedRides

It's a tool for shaping metal. They almost look like a band saw with a wheel instead of a blade. That is a very crude description. Hopefully we can show it in the next charger video

If you order some clip on mics from temu...as stupid as it seems, they are actually good, Plug one into an old phone and put the phone in each persons pocket. Turn on voice recorder and sync it up in post. That way you have ggod audio of each oerson for pennies.

Thanks! Ya I have two mics, but when we have more people in the shop that doesn't help... So maybe some affordable temu mics will do the trick!
