Thank you for watching! We hope you like the video and consider subscribing!
In this video we take a 1969 Charger that had been a movie stunt car and was recently used in the movie The Man From Toronto Starring Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson. Often stunt cars like these get used and abused until the point where they are only good for one last crash or explosion scene... but we couldn't let that happen. So it would seem that we either hate having money, or are just a glutton for punishment. This is going to be a huge undertaking, but we are up for the job. Due to the amount of time and money this will take, we won't be able to focus on this car alone. We will have to bring in other projects while we save up and while we collect everything it needs. but we will try to keep the charger videos coming as often as we can. In this video we offer up a little tour of the car and show what state its currently in. We get started cutting and removing the floor so we can reinforce the inner structure and put in a new floor pan. The car did have a square tube rear frame reconstructed before we got our hands on it. When we first got the car, Cam welded in a trunk floor and carried that through to the back seat area, just to keep everything square and from falling apart when we need to push it around. This isn't going to be a full restoration to try and keep the car as factory as possible. We'd love to be able to do that, but this car was beyond that point. We will however take the opportunity make a few changes and upgrades without feeling guilty that we are butchering a clean car. We are going to be on a tight budget on this one so any help from viewers with leads on parts, tips, or affordable aftermarket options would be super appreciated. We hope you join us and follow along as we try and bring this car back from the brink!
We have another video coming out next week so keep an eye out for that! Uploads every Friday!
car, cars, truck, trucks, hot rod, muscle car, fix, fixing, rebuild, restoration, restore, paint, painting, paint job, dodge, tim deegan, cam pollard, rust, rusted, rides, mechanic, diy, before and after, transformation, before, after, fender, quarter panel, door, mirror, decal, Dodge, charger, floor pan, rear quarter, vinyl top, man from Toronto, fast and furious, the dukes of hazard

I'll admit you did a great job!!! I like the fact you used square tubing inside the inner rocker! It stiffens the car up! I'd recommend doing a full subframe connector like Junker up makes! It will help and should make this string enough to keep being a stunt car I it had to continue filming and survive! Great job tho! It's how I would do it myself!!!
@RustedRides
@RustedRides 5 ай бұрын
Ya it does help, especially when so much of the structure was compromised. But hopefully when it's done it could pass as a leading role movie car and not the stunt car haha

Nice to see some Canadian content here.....I'm originally an Ontarian from way back, though these days I hang my hat in BC but I'll always consider the Ottawa Valley my home. Chargers have always been my dream car as far back as the '80s, but for some reason, hopes of owning one have always eluded me. Will be looking forward to seeing it's progress, you'll get a lot of inspiration to build it into a General Lee, and as much as I like it, it's gotta be THE most copied TV car in existence, and there's already more than enough tributes out there......but that's just my humble opinion.
@RustedRides
@RustedRides 5 ай бұрын
Ah thank you! Nice to hear from a fellow Canadian! BC is beautiful, but then again so is the Ottawa Valley. We are about an hour north east of Toronto. And I know what you mean, all my dream cars from when I was growing up entered a time period where they became more affordable, but then also disposable, and now that there are less of them around the prices are all climbing! These old chargers are crazy expensive, even rotted out ones like this one. We have tossed the idea of a General Lee around, or making it with inspiration from The Man From Toronto as it was the stunt car, but who knows...we will likely poll the viewers and get some ideas before deciding on what colour or theme. Thanks for commenting and following along! We have videos every Friday and we will try to get another charger video out soon!

@@RustedRides I've come to the point in my life where I know I'll never realize my dream of owning a Charger....unless it's in 1:18 scale at least...lol....but I'm ok with that. I'm fortunate enough to have a couple other collector cars in the garage, but they're not Mopars. You've undertaken an immense project, not many of us would even try to save that, but considering how hard they are to find, it'll be totally worth it. Build it as you see fit, many will have varied opinions on how it should be built, but pay attention to the ones who know these cars inside out, you may want to reconsider some of your modifications for it as it might not be beneficial to the car. Again, JMHO. Oh, and I hope to see more guest appearances by your trusty little fur baby as well.

It gets dirty so fast... definitely need to figure out something better for storage and ways to keep this place cleaner

If you can keep it factory rails and build a coilover setup to work with the factory rails and k member ok but dont hack it!!! People will remember you for being a hack!!!! Just put new rails in it and replacing the lower inner structure like factory them put whatever suspension youd like but don't f#$ up this charger make it as if it were a mint charger that had damage from its movie career!

We are looking into options. Not made of money and torsion key suspension can often be more trouble than they are worth. Also when they do break, they can be very dangerous. Since the car is so far gone, and with the technology we have the day, it might be a good time to build it with an updated suspension. Still weighing our options...again, we are also not able to just buy an entire cars worth of new parts. Dang project cars, just big money vacuums haha!
