We sat down with the founder of Unega Mountain Dog Rescue, Tiffany Larson, who told us why she started rescuing Great Pyrenees and Akbash dogs in Blaine County, Idaho. Tiffany has committed her life to rescuing these animals and giving them a second chance at a happy life!
With 12 sanctuary dogs that live at Unega full-time, Tiffany and her team continue to rescue and save Great Pyrenees and Akbash dogs that have been abandoned and left to die by some sheep herders.
Under current Idaho law, these breeds of dogs are classified as livestock, therefore are not protected by the same animal rights that other dog breeds have. The team at Unega is working on changing the laws surrounding these animals.
