In my opinion, this cutscene is one of the most breathtaking and revolutionary cutscences in video game history. It is one of those that takes video games to the level of Hollywood movies.

This will always be one of the best cutscenes in video game history. The music, pacing, and story telling are just perfect. It's sheer perfection.

My favourite game since it came out, and I just recently noticed, that the part of William first to mutate is his right side, which is the side where he took all the bullets. The G-Virus mutates to compensate for damage. The more damage, the more uncontrolled mutations.

This is my favorite scene from the entire franchise. Its just like watch a good movie.

Without exaggeration, and in light of the context: this cutscene has clearly seen multiple refinements before reaching our consoles, it is one of the most well-considered and good-looking (even now) shorts, that convey the RE2 atmosphere perfectly and top it all with a beautiful rapidly expanding eye featured in the main menu. Nothing but Respect for RE2 team. Old fan.

They really didn't do this scene justice in the remake. This was one of my most anticipated things in the game to see remade, and they chose to split it up into 2 tapes that you watch, and 2 different cutscenes with Leon and Claire. They are well done, but don't explain the situation or show William's awesome revenge the way this does. You empathize with the monster, and that's the beauty of this.

The remake is superb, but its version of depicting the Birkin massacre is sooo less badass than the original's. I mean, this cutscene scared the sh*t out me when I played it in PS1. The remake's take is so underwhelming by comparison.

This is the start of zombie apocalypse in Raccoon city.

This is still so much stronger than the same scene in the RE2 Remake. Like the more recent RE4 Remake, Capcom seems to have forgotten that the fun of these games partially lies in their operatic/campy tone. I love "gritty" or "psychological" horror but the Resident Evil games don't have stories or characters which work with this kind of terror. They work best when they're big, loud, and wacky. All the attempts to make these stories more "realistic" or "grounded" just diminish the fun in the remakes. To borrow a recent metaphor, Resident Evil isn't "The Babadook" (even though I love that film). Resident Evil is John Carptenter's "The Thing." If you want to modernize it, then push it closer to something like Scream which embraces the camp while still commenting on it. But please...pretty please...stop making it boring.

This should be a playable segment in the Resident Evil 2 Remake.

What I love is the obvious terror the professional USS commandos clearlyfeel while still looking competent showing the seriousness of this.

Fucking epic. Can't understand why in 15 years there has been a perfect involution on making horror games. Now they're only shitty action games, no suspance, no good music themes, this is what i call a HORROR MASTERPIECE.

Ok, I'm trying to figure out who was Hunk here. I think the first one who says "this way", and also the same one who stops the soldier saying "Stop! You may hit the sample!" was Hunk. In that case it means Hunk was the one carrying the briefcase with the samples. I can't identify the identity of his teammate but one of the two last remaining members who comes to give fire support was Luke, the same soldier we can see during the intro cutscene of RE Outbreak, he was seriously wounded by Birkin to end up dying by the rats. That was Luke, maybe someone noticed it before. He is the last USS member who runs out of ammo on this cutscene. He is also a playable character on Outbreak, just like Hunk. They are unlockable characters 👍

I always loved how Hunk's unit raiding William Birkin's lab, fatally shooting Him and stealing the G-Virus echoes how Wesker and Birkin supervised the assassination of Dr.James Marcus 10 years prior in His lab underneath the Church beyond the Umbrella Management Training Facility, karmic justice at it's finest!

Looking back at this awesome cutscene, I realized something. How the hell did HUNK and his team get to that part of the sewers that fast? Assuming all of this happened in real time, the incident happened at the lowest level of the Umbrella labs. They would have to go through, in ascending order (pun intended), a ladder, the emergency car at the bottom platform, and a cable car. William would have been dead at this point. And even if he injected the G-virus not long after he got shot and therefore transforming, his first form isn't fast enough to follow them. It may be possible that HUNK's team was lingering there for a period of time since they did say that the rendezvous point was nearby, but still...

The music and atmosphere was so much more immersive and hype than the bs that the remake gave. Idk y they had to change it smh

I feel so conflicted about the remake. On one hand: I love the fact that it's so different from the original that it doesn't make the original pointless to go back to, but on the other hand, remake is so different that it should've been its own game.
