This free-form resin /sculpture bowl was created by Michele, using a medium viscosity topcoating art resin, (we no longer carry that brand). And for colours we used Colour Passion Transparent Tints.
The plastic wrap I used on this video, was Costco’s brand Kirkland plastic wrap (their version of Saran Wrap). I found it ok, but (saran wrap style thinner plastic) not my favourite to use for these bowls. The plus side of it are, it keeps the nice resin shine, & it draped nicely. The negative side is, it can be tricky to peel off. Although with more experience of making sure it doesn't wrap over in sections, it would get easier. I lean towards the ease of the medium weight plastics, for ease of removal, but need to find one that doesn’t dull the resin finish.
A medium or high viscosity epoxy (such as iCoat CT60 or iCoat Medium Viscosity, works well for this project, If you are using a very thin viscosity resin, such as iCoat TP21 or iCoat TP24 you may want to create sides to hold the resin in. You can use a glue gun or silicone caulking (100% clear, non paintable), to make sides in a circle shape over top of a plastic sheet, to help keep the resin from spreading too far & too thin. Or alternatively, you may just want to buy a tray type mould instead of doing the free form, for your resin bowl (to help keep a thin resin from spreading to thin). The timing when you drape your resin over your jar, bowl or platter, will entirely depend on your resin brand you use.
At the end, once cured, if you need to you can cut off any bits that went past the glass, and lightly sand any rough edges.
Note: I accidentally filmed in the wrong orientation. And there’s a few things I’m still figuring out in filming, so please forgive my newbie KZfaq errors. I am still learning about KZfaq. 😉

Although our resins are no VOC, please use all resins in well ventilated areas (&/or a respirator with organic vapour cartridges), always use nitrile gloves while using any resin, and refer to manufacturers SDS sheets for more information.
