Ladies,
The Lord calls all believers to treat other people with honor, dignity, and respect.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 1 Cor. 13:4-5
Outdo one another in showing honor. Rom. 12:10
Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor. 1 Pet. 2:17
Our culture has really gotten rid of this idea - so it doesn't tend to come very naturally to us anymore. But we can learn to treat others in ways that please and honor God, even if we didn't have godly examples around us.
All believers are called to properly submit to (honor the leadership of) those in positions of God-given authority in our lives (unless they are calling us to sin or to condone sin). God's definition of submission is not slavery. Jesus, Himself, willingly submitted to the Father out of love. In God's economy, submission is a willing, voluntary decision to honor the authority God gives to another person. It cannot be forced or coerced. It is ultimately about our reverence for and submission to Christ as our LORD.
