The United States is known for its big portions at restaurants. You can take leftovers home with you in a doggy bag, but lots of food nonetheless ends up in the bin. That's no longer the case in Austin, Texas, where restaurants are now required to donate extra food to shelters, send food scraps to animal farms, or compost organic waste. I tried to start a compost business...the laws even let you freeze it, the business just wouldn’t keep up. Even the used coffee ground disposal wasn’t a hit. Yuppies don’t care.

if we want to focus on less waste feeding the 'livestock' isn't going to help much the next step is to move away from animal farms aswell
