If I had been a woodworm in that chair, I would have said "Damn; I'm moving to some place nicer" long before you used the worm killer. Not the most beautiful piece you have restored, but your workmanship is excellent. Great video.

This chair must have extraordinary sentimental value to have put all that effort into it. How much of the original piece is left though after all the hardener, filler and glue? And where is the original bright blue paint, the nicest part of the thing to begin with?

Maybe if this was the chair that Ivan the Terrible or Napoleon or somebody always sat on to warm himself by the hearth, maybe then I'd think it was worth the time and effort to restore. The techniques and materials employed were quite interesting, though. I'd never heard of paraloid wood hardener. LaserPecker is a new one to me also. That might be a good nickname for this guy that I know, assuming he has not been exaggerating.

Outstanding work. Please let me know when you do more resin-stabilized pieces. We have a product here in the states called Cactus Juice if you care to research it. It seems like it would be ideal for woodworm damage stabilization.

With the seat glued down in a cross-grain manner, it will split again.

The replacement seat panels were left in a ' rough' finish. Was that deleberate.

I have had to sit on the same type of chair while in primary school some 40 years ago.. what I remember from it was the usage of the two pieces of planks to make the seat.. and then when the chair got old and wobbled, the piece of planks would pinch your thigh.. it was very painful.. so to use two pieces, one has to make sure the legs are sturdy and doesn't move at all.. ha ha.
