Those of us with old, damaged frames can’t wait to see your approach to this antique one! While I likely couldn’t afford to hire a professional to repair them, I am willing to invest in the best materials - including genuine gold leaf - and with proper guidance, tend to them myself. Great new project. The layer of dirt and grime is so heavy -- it looks as if the painting has never been cleaned before. So often, the biggest job seems to be fixing bad work from previous restorations. Do you think you are the first to work on this painting? Can't wait to see it when the muck is gone! And, yes, your audio level is pretty low at times. Maybe a bit of compression applied to the audio track in future videos to bring out the quiet comments.

Just curious, are you going to remove the painting from the stretches? You mentioned that you could see them from the front. I could see the line all the way around the painting. Is there any thing you can do to minimize or get rid of that line. This is my first time watching you - it’s fascinating how complex cleaning/restoring is.
@Bloomfield_Art_Restoration
@Bloomfield_Art_Restoration Жыл бұрын
In this instance it will stay on the stretcher , you could remove and flatten out on the vacuum table but there isn’t the budget for that in this project

There is a painting by a D. Crook from the late 19th Century up for sale in auction at the moment.. I must say the work looks like it could be this artist.. Other than that I really couldn't find out much more. The numbre of the paper looked a bit more like a 268 to me, which would then at least tie in the chalk 268. Can't wait to see what you do with this .
@Figueiredoartconservation

Great video, Congratulations. This project is very interesting, and the tests for cleaning you performed did already show us, the dramatic difference we are going to see after the cleaning. I never got a project where the painting was protected with pieces of wood from the back. In your opinion was that original from the time painting was painted? or was the securing that extra frame you to out, (this frame was making this painting possible to be on that frame because the original window of the frame was bigger than this painting, (I suppose), or am I wrong?
@Bloomfield_Art_Restoration
