I loved this video. Several years ago, my grandfather and I built a trike from ground up. Bought a VW bug, and went from their. This was a good reminder of those memories since my grandfather is no longer with us.

Mixed feelings watching this vid. Loved the filming, music and editing, and also the general idea of working together father and son and make something together you can be proud of. A lot of work, effort, sweat... More than most could/would do, so hat off for that! And yet I have to agree with other posters: there's only so much you should diy, some parts should just be replaced when damaged when safety is involved (aka the frame). Nevermind if you feel super confident about your repair: this isn't about cosmetics anymore, or the bike not working. If you're wrong, someone may die. Keep doing what you're doing and be proud of it, but please PLEASE don't try to fix vital parts such as the frame, replace it. As for the rest: well done!

Every time you look at something that you know you put lots of care into it makes it mean so much. Glad to see another person who has a very strong bond with their father, nothing quite like it. @@sinformant there's a new 650, called the Gladius which is kind of the spiritual successor of the SV. The SV1000 was actually a commercial failure, which is probably why there's no Gladius 1000. Cool bikes nonetheless!
@sinformant
@sinformant 4 жыл бұрын
@@IRideThereforeIExist I know of the gladius.they did release a new sv650 as well. Not a huge fan. The sv1000/s was very popular in europe. I believe they had it for a few years longer than the us. They cut it off here in the us at 09. Everyone here in the us wants the gsxr,zxr, and the yzfr. I figured with the recent popularity of v twin and paralell twin and flat plane crank 4cyl bikes here in the us suzuki would jump on board and make a new one. To me the sv650 is fun, but just doesn't have the grunt of its big bro.

yeah on the note of jb weld is that it doesn't like heating up all the well compared to steel, for instance that exhaust "fix" wont last due to thermal expansion and contraction, also if they've had years to practice welding then that frame could of been welded up just fine and still look good. covering it with jb weld comes off to me as that the weld were not up to par. this project just feels like putting makeup on a pig and pawning it off.

Well i dont think they are `hiding` anything by posting all their work on youtube. I wouldnt ride this thing tho. I personaly have a problem with `tampering with sportbike frames` type of things. I think its dangerous, stupid and not worth it.

@@crnodete If the damage doesn't affect the structural integrity of the frame. Then a bit of weld filling the scratches or small gouges are fine. They showed the damage and it was minor. Their repair was purely cosmetic. Nothing I seen on this build were unsafe. A couple of things problematic down the road yes. But nothing dangerous. All of you are being drama queens. Post your work on KZfaq for the world to critique please. Sense you're so perfect. Or so you think.

@@chadtucker2875 Like i said, no i wouldnt ride that thing and theres no drama. The bike is worth couple of grand and i am not educated enough into researching whether the frame will crack or not so id rather get the factory spec one. I value my life more than an educated guess of those two gentlemen who have done an incredible job on the bike really.
