Ok, this has been on my mind for a while: Has paradox added the ability for the AI to use last stand or did they already use it before but there was never an indicator for it? As far as I remember Patch Barbarossa merely added the indicator

@@aspielm759 no, this was never a thing before. This patch has made me realize how much I despise "funny button" gameplay. If command power were actually worth much like political power, stability, war support, or factories, it would be balanced, but it fundamentally does not do enough to be worried about spending it.

The more they do it, the more equipment, manpower and war support they lose, what could be better?

@@Lopez0451 not really it's still pretty basic the way HOI4 battles work is you have your "damage" value (soft+hard attack) and then a "protection" value (defence or breakthrough) on the defence you use defence, on the attack you use breakthrough, then the way damage is calculated is that for every point of soft attack that is bellow the defence value of the enemy, it only deals 10% of the damage it would otherwise that means that every point of soft attack above the enemy defence value deals ten times more damage, so for example if the enemy has 100 defence, and you have 100 soft attack, you would deal 10 damage per tick, if you had barely 110 soft attack however, you would deal 20 damage, going from 100 to 110 DOUBLES the damage you do in that example so every point of soft attack you can get above the enemy defence is extremely valuable, on top of that artillery gives you a bit of breakthrough, which of course divides by 10 the damage the enemy deals to you while you attack them in short don't attack with infantry, and if you do pack it with as much artilery as possible, going 50/50 on the ratio of infantry to artillery isn't overdoing it if you want to use those division to push, for example 8 8s work very well for japan against china

The bonus is no different than the one acquired through spies.

@@Technium1 Someone has to attack normally, otherwise there is no green bubble to CTRL-click. The actual trick is to stop your divisions moving immediately after you shatter the defenders. There's usually a window of several game-hours between when you destroy the enemy divisions and when you occupy the port tile.

You need 2 things. 1 no frontline otherwise it will convert to a regular attack. 2. To control alt right click the tile.

@@71Cloak Your attacks are so smooth. How do u regroup to the front line? You draw defensive or offensive lines to do that? And after that do you delete the order so they wont retreat back to the spot? And how do u cancel the previous orders - through unnasignment? Combat system is quite confusing, I just can't get it

I don't know how to exactly answer your questions. I do use a lot of keyboard shortcuts. S splits units in half. H halts their current order (unless they have just started to attack a unit, battles must last 4 hours). B (sometimes ctrl b) tells units to strategical redeploy (often called railroading). Hold shift and right click provinces to have control over the path they take.

@@71Cloak so you prepare them with front line and then click H so you would attack them manualy? Yeah it's a good answer, I would use shortcuts more often. And videos are just great, I did your country's guides step by step and it improved my skills and feel for the game, tx man!

I was using strategic view adjustments which changes battle plans mostly and better air wing deployment.

I can say in my attempts that it not eliminates the rng, is so fucking frustrating, very few times the referendum succedes in my games, even when the AI do it, idk

It shouldn't be though. The base chance of acceptance for the referendum is 80% and the chance they vote yes with opinion over 75 is 80%. The chance they say no to the referendum 3 times in a row is 0.008.

@@71Cloak I understand that, but I found that reintagratin the railroads actually improve the chances of acceptance. From what I know that focus and good relations count. I dont know the exact coding so I may be wrong but that is my experience and what I found out in a mod that describes the chances of this event. The mod may have changed a few things but from what I saw he didnt change the basic events so... If Im wrong than Im wrong but that is my only advice that I can add. Sorry.

In the event files for Austria, the base chance for AUS to let the referendum happen at all 80%, then they have a 75% chance to accept annexation if "reintegrate the railroads" hasn't happened and their opinion of HUN is below 75, an 80% chance if either, and a 95% chance if both.

@@71Cloak for france you start out controlling syria, so I always recommend attacking Iraq to get their oil you share a low supply border, in my run I built a railway to northeast syria, but I don't know if it's necessary with enough supply avoidance, plus remember that rivers carry supply and that iraq has the tiger and the euphrates

People kept complaining it was too loud so I turned it down. Also its from a live stream which also seems to make the game a bit quieter.

@@71Cloak I could hear the game pretty well, but I would say you can increase the game volume by 20% from what it is now without it being distracting, people are here to hear your commentary anyways not for the game's airplane sounds

Or you can just use the spy agency to get a non-aggression pact and not care. This way you can also go to war with Italy and not go to war with Germany making the fight much easier.

The austrian division come in handy and also you loose time while fightning austria

In addition you lose soo much ic worth of equipment if you fight them. Its about 4-5 factories worth for a full year. Ohh and the manpower.

Welcome to having bad luck. It took me 4 test runs for the czechs to agree to be annex. Each run Austria accepted the referendum no matter what I did. The second I start recording they refuse to accept.
