This is an antique Wyandotte brand "China Clipper" Seaplane, called a Flying Boat in 1936 when they built it, it was the first international seaplane made by Martin. Was used in the Indiana Jones movie, and this one was one of the most popular pressed steel toys of the 1930s. This particular toy has been stepped on, welded together, repainted, left out in the sun and rusted together in one whole mess. About as destroyed as you can get one, I wager. I bring it back to its former glory with my own decals I created myself based on the original colors of the Pan American Airlines logo. This was my first faithful restoration, and there will surely be many more to come.

My very favourite part of any restoration video is the creation of new parts to replace damaged/missing originals. This video had lots of that! I also enjoyed the removal of the old repairs -- that welding was really bad. Lastly, I liked the relaxing background music. Consider me a new subscriber!

I appreciate you and I appreciate your feedback. Thank you for checking out the video and for subscribing, there should be plenty more coming soon. Fabricating is probably my favorite part as well, the next video I'm working on is a Nylint roadster and I'm going pretty radical with it, I'm trying to make it look like a realistic model instead of keeping it a faithful restoration, so there is a ton of fabrication work. I especially appreciate the kind words about the music, I'm new to keyboard so it's a little bit out of my comfort zone to post it, but I'm glad it was well received by at least one person. :) I'm planning some guitar in the next video, we'll see how that goes. Also those old welds were way worse than they looked, I had to cut out so much footage of trying to grind it out of all the little nooks.

@@Toystorations I don't know, it has twin wooden white wheels on each side of the back landing gear... so it makes sense the front would be the same. @Toystorations
@Toystorations 2 жыл бұрын
It was just compressed air. If you turn a can of air upside down, adiabatic cooling causes the air to freeze. The temperature change helps loosen up the dirt and grime so I could find the original paint to know what color to repaint it. Nothing fancy or necessary. Don't spray it on your hands, you'll get frostbite. Don't breathe it in either. Also maybe just don't do it. It wasn't the smartest idea. Thanks for watching. :)

If you mean the vertical stabilizer (tail), it goes to the top of the propeller and was stenciled from the original part. If you mean the horizontal stabilizer (rear wing), it extends out to the center of the outermost nacelle (engine cowling) and was also stenciled from the original part. This is accurate to both the original Wyandotte design and the original 1935 Martin M-130 blueprints. Thanks for watching.

That wasn't a restoration. That was a resurrection. That toy was abused every conceivable way. At first, it looked like one of those fake restoration videos where they smear mud all over it. But then I looked closer and realized it was paint. Then I looked in the video description. And sure enough, some fool repainted it and did a horrible job. And that's just the beginning of things. I could have done a better job than that last guy who had it, and I've never restored a toy in my life.

I appreciate you enjoying this :) I don't think I could let it go yet though, it was my first restoration for the channel and in the future, I think I might regret selling it. Plus the primer didn't stick well, so the paint is pretty delicate. I'm really glad you enjoyed it though, thanks for stopping by and checking out the channel!

If you are free for the next 12 months, I have a Cessna 182 with a Lycoming engine that I'd like to restore.

I am sure the airplane was nicely but I stopped watching before the half way mark. The music just was not my cup of tea. Sure I could have muted the sound but chose not to. I will watch for another video as I feel this person cam command my attention and admiration.

I'm sure there are people who would say it's stupid to put such loving care and work into such a simple worthless thing and that is why I do everything I can to avoid all such people

@@Toystorations i never said I didn't enjoy. It was a very good restoration. Just there were times I could not see what was going on.

I worked for Pan Am 1967-1989 One of the world Greatest Airline. To bad they backed the wrong political party that eventually caused its downfall.
