Winter prep work continues in the potager with us building a new raised bed from some scrap wood. We then start work on our big project for the year - restoring the barn. The wall is not in great shape so first up is to strengthen it from both sides. Even Rebecca gets in on the action. Thanks to Lingoda for sponsoring this video - upping our French level is a big challenge for both of us this year. We've had quite the run of illnesses so far this year and this week was no different with both children getting chicken pox. It means the year has got off to a slower start than we would have liked which can be frustrating at times but that's just how these things go.
However it really feels like Spring is round the corner, the daffodils are popping out and it is nearly time to start planting seeds.

Welcome to Living in the Loire, we are a young family in rural France, renovating previously poorly converted barns. We aim to do most of the work ourselves, being as frugal and as eco as possible.
We are learning on the job and we hope to share the skills we pick up along the way. When possible we will take you on a tour of the region (the garden of France) sharing with you the numerous chateaux, towns and markets.
