This takes the cake on the hardest to service. That whole desolder and resolder to change a belt is absurd. Add to the fact you have to remove what is essentially a rebranded Panasonic/JVC portable and it's crazy. Also consider choosing a new background song. The rapid drum beats off time are quite annoying. Rest of the video, as others are top notch.

Are these xlr's stereo? In that case... ask a local music group, hook up some decent 🎤... start a recording and bring out some original 18 bits DCCMUSEUM music! This recorder is born to do so!

Very nice and very useful video for replacement of the belt. I obtained a PMD601 recently (with broken belt) but I can't figure out what the knob beneath the XLR input does. Can you tell me what this knob, OUT-OFF-IN is used for? Strange thing is that it's not mentioned in the user manual as well.

It looks like the top PCB has fewer parts than the 170 and 175. Are the amplifiers on the external PCB, or does it have fewer chips (e.g. did they leave out the bass boost chip), or am I just mistaken?

Ik heb een dcc170, komt op en valt af. Dat is de kop wordt tegen de tape gedrukt en valt af. Is dat ook de belt of iets anders mogelijk? Wat is de maat van de belt/riem? Bedankt!

So it really is just a DCC170 that's been screwed onto a board that has extra stuff on it
