Restoring the Queen Mary, one of the world's most famous passenger ships

No expense was spared in constructing the luxury liner, but by the 1980s, she had been relegated for use as a tourist attraction in Long Beach, California. Decades of neglect led to calls for her to be scrapped, but an outpouring of local support and millions of dollars in upgrades mean the ship is once again welcoming guests.

My husband and I spent last Christmas on the queen Mary. My mother came to America from England in the 1950s on her. Most of my life I’ve always wanted to visit her to walk the same steps my mother did. When the Commodore and the rest of the stuff found my mother’s story there enthusiastically helped me to locate places that she would’ve gone on the ship and what she possibly could have done. It was an amazing adventure which will give me memories to last a lifetime. My husband and I definitely will be returning again. Thank you, Commodore and the rest of your staff for preserving part of my family‘s history.

Love how they left out haunted. I worked there during shaqtober fest, the Queen is very known for the lil girl who drowned in its pool. And if you go go down to the engineer room you may see the engineer who was sealed within the walls of ship as it was built. The superstition says sealing the main engineer into it wall protects the haul integrity

It’s all of the above. You can stay, dine and tour the Queen Mary. I recently went on a ghost tour on the ship that was really educational

It's like an old Vegas hotel. Tear it down & move on. Heritage value can be preserved in photos & video.

scrapping it would cost the same as restoring it. but one option comes with an income.

Absolutely not. Shes the last pre ww2 ocean liner in existence and according to winston churchill "she shortened the war by a year"
