I've bought a lot of non-working kinetics when they were cheap. People didn't realize about the only thing that went wrong with them was the capacitor went bad. I mixed and matched parts, replaced the rechargeable capacitor and came up with 4 fully working watches. The only thing is the only replacements I could find at the time were Panasonic MT920 capacitors which only charge to about 3/4th storage as the original Seiko cap. I cleaned and oiled all the movements according to the service instructions and all the watches work find years later.

I decided to replace a battery on a watch. The screw on the retaining clip was so small I couldn't believe my eyes. I love Nekkid but his microscope makes screws look so big. Fantastic. I love him.

Long time watcher here - Been having a rough few days lately, but your chilled out and super down to Earth attitude in your restoration videos is always a great little mood lifter. Keep up the good work man, your videos have a seriously positive impact on some people.

Had a Seiko Kinetic Auto Relay back in the nineties as my first ‘good’ watch. Loved that thing and the cool function of shaking to wake it from sleep and watching the hands reset to correct time.

I always enjoy watching the nekkid watchmaker muttering while puttering.

I bought one of these in 1998 in Bridgetown, Barbados when on my honeymoon. Lasted about 10 years before it gave up the ghost. Wish I'd kept it after watch you work your magic. 👏👍

I really wanted one of these Seiko Arctura kinetic watches on my trip through the sands of time, but my job back then required I have a scuba diving watch. I still have and use my Seiko day/date automatic divers watch, it still runs great. It is WELL used, has a history with me from around the world, nicks in the case, scratches from a dive in Manilla Bay on the crystal and I thought a year ago I should retire and replace it with another one. I was STUNNED at what the go for so, I will keep mine with our combined history. Love your channel and I am fascinated with your patience.

Yes. I bought one of these at a jewelry show in San Antonio, Texas in 1999. It immediately stopped. 2 day show. Bought it on Saturday and took it to a jewelry store for a new battery knowing nothing about how it was supposed to work. Turned out it was a fake. Returned it the next day and got my money back. Had I bought it on Sunday, I would have been screwed as the charlatan left Sunday evening. Lucky me. 😁

I have this watch, only with a silver dial and mine had no band, so I adapted a silicone one. It works well with the watch. I had to replace the crystal also and went with the double domed instead of slightly magnifying. I like it and I was also able to find a sapphire one, so no more scratches. I wear this watch a lot and the case is very scratched. I am now inspired to bring it to this level of beauty with a brushed finish. I wish I knew how... but I have a jeweler friend... Thank you for featuring this gem. I love this watch.

I still can recall seiko kinetic, while playing with the garbage I found a the plastic case of seiko kinetic it was leaf green and transparent, as a child these kinds of finds is like a treasure. That was how Iv'e known it

Bored sitting in a hotel waiting to go to work and back home then a notification comes up that you have a new video. I am glad to say it has brightened my otherwise gloomy day. It is nice to see the inner workings of a quartz movement. I have always thought they would be simple and boring but you have proven me wrong.

That lobster strap was such a tricky thing to sort out. Plastics like that were once more common but seem to have been replaced by silicone. Polishing mops & compounds are something of an art. Your parts collection saved the day again.

I had a late 90's Seiko Kinetic Titanium Sports Watch completely restored about two years ago. It was the first watch I bought. A great little beater watch.

I watched one video a few months back and been hooked on watching ever since.. im a amateur watch collector and want to get into watch servicing as a hobby for myself. Watching this guy makes me want to start even more

Currently wearing a Seiko Auto, with pepsi dial my dad bought in 1996 at H Samual in Doncaster. My dad has worn it everyday since it was bought and he gave it me a few months ago. Fits me perfect now, it didn't in '96. I also have another Seiko Auto in need of repair after it went through the washer.

As a -hoarder- keeper of precious-to-me bits'n pieces since my childhood (in my fifties now) and ever since using those to randomly repair stuff other people would just throw away, I'm recurrently blown away by Your nonchalantly thrown-in remarks about having the one or other part, fatally defective in the watch You work on, in a probably better condition "... in my junk pile". It gets even better with those brief glimpses into random boxes, to the brim full of _not-at-all_ "junk". Recycling, reusing and restoring rocks, and doing it in that micro-scales You royally master rocks even more for me who already might struggle with the smaller Weber carburetor parts or Bosch injection pump springs .... Thank You for sharing what's going on (and around) Your bench, Mr Watchmaker !

Mate I know you don’t like to be put on a pedestal, but holy 💩 your so freaking good at what you do. It’s obvious took time dedication and a hell of a lot of patience, to achieve this level of skill. All I know is your damn good at what you do and you must have a sense of pride when you turn these beat up watches into almost new. Good on ya mate, be proud brother, you earned it.

That’s not the watch I would had ever thought about restoring but how you turned it from a total piece of junk into an almost new piece is truly amazing! All I can say is wow! I wish you would have given us a wrist shot but great job anyways!

What a stunning job. Amazing! I have the identical model and I replaced the capacitor and it's running great but I couldn't do a full strip and rebuild. A mechanical watch takes some doing but the parts on quartz watches are microscopic! Great restoration.

I used to have this exact watch. Bought it from Antigua when I was away with the Royal Navy back in 2003. It was my first big purchase as a teenager and I loved it. Not sure what happened to it, but this video bought back a lot of nice nostalgia for me, so thank you. Great job on the restoration.

I'm really happy to see that you restored a Seiko kinetic watch! That particular model was quite pricey back in its day. I own several kinetics and they keep great time - like five seconds or less per month depending upon the temperature. They stopped replacing the capacitors in favor of a rechargeable battery that is meant to last longer. Cheers!

Beans and toast. Sounds pretty good to me ! In the sixties I spent five years living on beans and potatoes because my father was nearly killed in an industrial accident six people essentially living on what we could scrounge or earn by doing odd jobs. One person nearly ded , one very young 4 or 5 at the start ,one 9, myself 12 and my sister 13, mother splitting her time talking care of father and Grandmother in wheelchair. Things were difficult.

My parents gave me a Seiko "AGS" automatic generation system watch in 1989, which was the precursor to Kinetic. I still have it, but it doesn't hold a charge anymore. Thanks for the videos!

Great video. Remember these coming to market, so cool and modern at the time. Almost bought one with the pvc strap (available in red, blue and yellow) but went with a Tag Heuer F1 instead as they were available for about the same price. The early Arcturas are modern classics that capture 1990s design perfectly.

I have a Lorus Kinetic (with glass case back, made by Seiko in Japan, I believe), dating from 1996, which makes it 27 years old. It works perfectly, and has NEVER stopped once since it was bought. I also had a Seiko Kinetic (without glass case back), and it would never hold a charge in the capacitor, and was ALWAYS stopping. Obviously the Seiko capacitor was duff, and the Lorus looks like it will outlive me (I'm 60). EDIT: "Seiko Arm Cheese!" ... Mmm, yum! 👍😋🤣

These videos are so good, I always get anxiety when you take them apart thinking, “how’s he going to remember what went where!?” Have you ever considered at the very end just doing a final side by side of the beginning and finished product? I mean we see all the changes, but I think that would add to the impressiveness of your refurbishing. I’m glad you don’t do straight ASMR videos, I love your voice, silly jokes, kids etc. I look forward to your next watch.

Greetings from Canada. Just happened on your channel. I have a passion for vintage cars and motorcycles so the restoration of anything mechanical is right up my alley. Viewing other watch repair channels, I'm surprised by the similarity of construction and parts used in various makes and models. In my world, the availability and access to parts is a constant concern so is there a element of parts interchange with watches? Also I prefer the commentary in your videos as you do provide some historical facts and just general watch restoration information. Fascinating! Sorry to be long winded and appreciate your efforts.
