I actually rewatched Demolition Man two days ago. The secret of the three shells was left as a cliffhanger at the final scene, and apparently was scheduled to be revealed in the sequel that never saw the light of day.

I believe the joke is predicated on old outhouse art with 3 corn cobs. a red one, a white one, and another red one, instead of toilet paper. You use the first red corn cob, then use the middle white corn cob to see if you need the third corn cob.

Funny and interesting. I always assumed there was something to do with Japanese ‘active’ cleaning toilets that would have become the norm in the future. Your corn cob theory is far more amusing though. Not that I can picture myself trying that technique. Obviously.

I love the Celica, and I've done a lot of what Sarah is doing, I had 5 of the '77 Celica GT over the years. I 'restored' parts of them, though I certainly don't have her very high degree of skill and attention to detail. I always thought about dropping a V-8 into one of them, but after seeing what really goes into it, I'm very glad I didn't.
