Thank you! The best advice I can give you is to watch Ekopel’s KZfaq videos. They had some complains about the epoxy not setting correctly. They have revised their method for how to prep the material. I think they now want you to stir it longer and give it a rest time before applying it! Personally, I have not had any problems with the finish on my sink! I love it!!!

Did you also use Ekopel? I had used another product on a tub, and it only lasted a year before starting to peel. The Ekopel seems to be harder and thicker than the other brands. So far, it is holding up for us.

Amanda Langston Oh, how exciting! I love mine! Please let me know how it turns out! Just make sure you thoroughly mix the two parts together! Their video shows how they use the bucket that Part A comes in as their mixing bucket! But, I highly recommend using a separate bucket! Put Part B in the bucket first, then add the denser & stickier Part A into Part B! They encourage you to use a paint stick to mix for 5 minutes (instead of the drill mixer like I used). This is probably a good idea!!!

I am going to be doing the same size sink. I would like to know how much product you used and how satisfied you are with the process. I did mine 12 years or so ago with a roll on but it did not hold up very well but this product looks promising.

It is holding up nicely. I do take precautions against staining by making sure the sink is washed out after coffee or tea is poured out. I also have a rubber mat in the bottom to protect against scratches.

@@spinydaisy3128 Beautiful. Trick is to put the work into the preparation. Sand it. Clean it well. Lots of masking and floor protection. Pouring was the easy bit. Just waiting for 72 hours before refitting sink drain and tap.. even though instructions say 24-36 hours. Can't stop looking at it.

Really well! No chips or major scratches! I do keep a sink protector on the bottom of the sink. Coffee does tend to stain the sink, but a bleach gel works really well to remove these stains. I am careful not to overuse the bleach because I don’t want it to work it’s way through the epoxy. I have used the cheaper Tub and tile products on a tub in the past! Definitely not worth the money! Also, they have high VOCs and can run you out of the house for days! The Ekopel literally didn’t have any smell or fumes!

We used this a month ago and it stains so easily and is nearly impossible to get the stains out. it also chips very easily. such a disappointment.

Just want to say THANK YOU for letting me know about the 1700 degree oven rule for porcelain. Most people dont know that may be the only way the glaze will really set to the point beyond cracking and peeling stage where other paints cant withstand that temperatures of normal heat and cold to withstand durability. Can this paint be tinted a different color to use even if one attempts to use it?

The heat gun will pull the air bubbles out. Not a hair dryer. It cause the bubbles to come to the surface and pop.

​@@bonjourrjwell, you could just avoid having air bubbles by not using a drill and hand mixing.

We are on year three, and the product is still holding! It has started to stain easier. I use a gel bleach cleaner once a week to clean it. Of course, they specifically tell you in the directions not to use bleach products, but it works for me. I will say that we do not pour boiling water directly on our sink very often. The sink is used daily though because we do not have an electric dishwasher.

I really couldn’t be happier with the results. So far, it is holding up beautifully! It has not stained or chipped at all. I am still holding my breath though. I do not know the longevity of this product.

The finish is very smooth and porcelain like! I have been extremely careful with the finish because I am worried about scratches and such. I put down a rubber mat on the sink bottom and the drain board. I use baking soda, soap and vinegar solution to clean to sink. So far, it is maintaining its shine and color.

The Pink Diamonds So far, so good.... but I definitely have been super safe! If is does stain, it will be better than the rust stain and thin porcelain that I had before!

They recommend using toilet bowl cleaner to clean before applying. This does two things. First, it cleans rust and soap scum, and second, it etches the surface to help the product bind with the surface. I hope this helps!

George H Best advice I can give beforehand is to make sure the two part are mixed thoroughly!!! Be sure to scrape the sides as you mix!!! Most negative reviews I read were from people who ended up with sticky spots that never dried! Also, don’t overwork the product, they say you have an hour working time, but I found that it started to thicken after 40 minutes. Of course, it was a hot and dry environment when I did ours!

We have indeed been using it! No chips yet! I do have a sink rack on the bottom of the sink. I do not pour coffee into it either because I am afraid it will stain.

I am confused about what paint you are talking about! Is it the paint around the sink? If so, tape it off with gorilla tape before your pour. Be sure to watch more videos on how to tape off your drain as well! This stuff adheres and dries hard as a rock.

Probably won’t be removing this sink for a long while! So, no video planned here. 😉 If your sink has an apron like ours, then it most like sits against the back wall on a cast iron cleat. Ours did! The counter is only a secondary support system. . Our process was to turn off the water at the meter, and the. unhook the drain. You might be lucky and have access to shut offs for your cold and water under the sink. . I used some cutoffs of 2x4s to temporarily stick between the sink and counter as we used two crowbars to lift it up off the counter. After sticking the 2x4 spacers, we were able to get ahold of the sink underneath. Then we moved it far enough from the wall to unhook the plumbing to the waterlines. . Beforehand, we set up some sturdy sawhorses very close by to set the sink on. . Yes, the sink was heavy and I am small. But I was able to carry my end just fine as long as didn’t have to walk very far. . We preinstalled the new faucet and drain before putting the sink back in place. Then finished the hook up from underneath the sink. Hopefully this explanation makes some sort of sense!

I wouldn’t wash it in the house. They also say not to use a mixing rod on a drill like I did… They prefer you to mix with a paint stick by hand. I would follow their recommendation.

Honestly, I don’t know. It is an epoxy product, so I feel like it could be done. I have two suggestions: 1. Call the ekopel company and ask. 2. Order their small repair kit which is just a sample size and play around with that to try to get the color you want.

At the time we did the sink, they only had a tub size kit. If I had a choice, I definitely would have used the tub sized kit because too much is better than not enough!

@@spinydaisy3128 I would suggest a wooden tongue depressor or popsicle stick to remove the excess at the bottom of the curve. Pour more and repeat if you wipe too much off. Great job on the sink. Thanks for all the tips that you shared.

So far, the epoxy is holding up. We wash dishes daily because we do not own a dishwasher. I had noticed that the epoxy is not as shiny and vibrant as it was in the beginning, but it is still better than what we started with. Exopel now sells smaller touch up material that I probably will try in the future.

After a year, it still looks amazing! The sink was white to start with, but had dark cast iron showing through that the epoxy covered up! I have seen colored tubs that were covered with this product in other channels. I am planning on using it on our pink tub when we get to the bathroom renovation. The product is pretty opaque, so I am not worried about the color showing through.

These are all valid concerns! I get it!! It is something that needs to be taken into consideration before choosing this route. For us, we have tried to wipe out the sink after each use, and we use a sink protective grid to keep from scratching the sink with pots and pans! But, we are not overly protective either. We use cast iron skillets and don’t have a dishwasher, so the sink gets used. We have had this product on for over a year and have not had a problem with chipping or scratches. I will say the bottom is not as vibrant white as a year ago, but no different than any other white sink we have had in the past. Again, weigh your options! If you decide to use this product, it is better to be proactive in protecting the coating.

I am not really sure. I have seen bathtub videos. My guess would be that it would be a similar process. I also can see this being a big mess. If there is not a way to tape off and protect the surrounding cabinets, countertops, and floor, then I probably wouldn’t attempt using this product. It basically is a self-leveling epoxy that will find every crevice and crack.

I just don't have the human power or understanding of how to take it out of the wall, but I hate the way the sink looks now. I can't think of what else to do. Even if it lasts only 2-3 years, that would probably make it worth it for me because then I could get a professional after that point. Thanks for the help and the video is very useful.

@@elizabethworley7073 Tape and paper off any thing that can get touched. Professionals suggest using a cheap duct tape on the borders of your sink because the epoxy is so hard after it is dry, it is hard to remove regular tape in certain cases. The epoxy will flow. Try to guess where it will flow and make sure you catch it. It is difficult to clean off of other surfaces.

I did not sand the sink. I cleaned it with Toilet bowl without bleach cleaner, which etches the sink surface. The back of my sink was still shiny and the product still has a firm bond. I would love to see pictures of your sink. My email address is spinydaisydesign@gmail.com

The sink still looks amazing. I just recently noticed a tiny 1/8” chip in the bottom. I just ordered Ekopel’s chip repair kit. Maybe I’ll do a follow up video on how this product works!

I would be interested in this response too. I have several areas worn away and something needs to fill them in. You must have done a good job if the cast iron pans have not caused chipping! I'm concerned about that myself. And the hot water mostly - how do you avoid not using hot water in your kitchen sink!?

The sink is well over 100lbs. Ours is supported by the original cast iron cleats that attach to a support wooden base in the wall. The cleats support most of the weight. Ours has a base that it also sits on! To remove the sink, we had to lift it straight up to release the cleats. Luckily, we could then rest it on the base while we loosened the plumbing from the sink in the back and the drain at the bottom. I hope this makes sense to you!

The epoxy is still holding very well! There is some staining though. Ekopel says not to use bleach products, but I do anyway about once a week, and it takes out the stains fairly well!

update: My sink is identical to yours except the drainboard is on the right. I went ahead with the project yesterday and it turned out b-e-a-utiful! I may have 1 problem today - since it seemed to drip, drip, drip forever, if you had that issue what did you do to get the hardened drips off the apron?

@@kenlelon369 We also had the dried drips below the drain. I used an orbital sander on the bottom of the sink to sand off the drips! Start at a low speed on the sander.
