@@TractorMonkeywithJL 👍😊 I found mine at a yard sale. It's an old Lowe's too but I haven't a clue what year it is. The seat is ripped up and the whole thing looks like it came out of a junk yard but I knew when I saw that engine I was gonna buy it. Paid $100 for it about 10 years ago and it's still going strong. I had an old Western Auto, (1992) it was 38 inch cut the 11 horsepower engine came undone, the oil slinger came apart and went between the cam gear and the crank gear. A friend gave me an 18horse 2 cylinder, it did a great job with the 38 inch mower I liked it, it ran good, started easy had more than enough Torque for my needs. I sold it to a mower shop, he was impressed with my putting that engine on the 38 inch. I think he just wanted the engine not the whole thing but he got some spare parts with the engine.

@@motormouth2472 Me too, I can tell ya my mother bought the tractor in 1990 and it has been in the family since. One owner. I've always been the one to do the maintenance on it. I'm stupid meticulous with my stuff, so after I mowed the grass I cleaned it well. I always drained the fuel for winter storage. I have a dynamark sitting in my garage right now. My dad bought it brand new in 1973. 8h.p. pull start. I bought a brand new electric start 11 h.p. engine for it in 1990 when my dad was no longer able to pull the rope. Mowed with it 15 more years. I inherited the mower and took the engine off and put it on the mower that I use now. That engine has been running 33 years and still runs perfect. Knock on wood.

Good work Taryl! Don't forget to give us a part 2 on this! I'd like to see it all cleaned up and all done when it's done :) Got some good luck on your side too - most of the important parts were all in good working order! Great find! Good job in catching all that water in the tank too! You'd be surprised at how many people would have just tried starting it without even checking the inside of the tank - which sends WATER into the carb and the engine making everything even worse! Good thing you were able to find a carb and starter for this thing so quickly too!

I've got a 1967, I think, model 72 IH garden tractor. Still can cut grass, and still has the original creeper hi low gear. Was the instrumental machine that started a lawn care business for my best friend and I back in the early 90s. It's so hard to let go of nostalgic machines and this is the only one I've refused to let go sour! I'm going to "fire it up " come spring time knowing full well its been way too long and the carbertrater is not going to be happy. But what a great sound that generator starter makes while that huge 7hp krohler ca chugs ca chugs back to life!

Tyral, great video, thank you. We had a 1991 Dynamark rider that had a 12hp Briggs engine. It lasted for 25 years and then one of the deck hangers broke and wasn't able to weld it, so had to replace it. I replaced the second stock battery with a small automobile battery and the stock starter solenoid with a universal auto solenoid. Changed the oil every spring(good old 10W30) and lubed it every three seasons. We bought a blade for it and pushed snow with it as well(sometimes from those tough Iowa blizzards). Thanks again.

For those of us without ‘a cabinet full of starters’, for things like that you can pressure wash (or put it through the dishwasher) to get excess grime off and then submerge it in a bucket of evaporust to free it up. Might work might not but that’s an easy recipe most people could try at home for restoring seized up parts. I do it all the time!

On this one, the problem was obvious, it’s the starter, don’t even need to check the solenoid. Something a lot of people don’t realize, when it comes to Briggs & Stratton starters, it’s the top bracket that defines what engine they go on, but that top bracket is interchangeable with other motors and you do not need to tear apart the entire starter to change that bracket. Something a lot of people don’t know, when it comes to changing out the starter on these engines, you do not need to remove the flywheel, if you put the flywheel in just right spot and use a 9/16 wrench you can get the bolt bolts out.

@@logansylvester8093 I've seen garden tractors this same size, with same engine and same rear tires that have a small 3 point hitch on the back and will run a small bottom plow. this is the same light duty "garden tractor", it just doesn't have the 3 point hitch on the back. But it does have the bigger wheels, stronger axle and lower granny gear of a garden tractor; which is pretty cool... This thing says it's only a 16hp, but that's very conservative. Today, a 660 twin cylinder like this would be 22hp to 24hp. For example, I have a Kohler Courage, and they started out as a 540cc which was 16hp (single piston), and then moved up to a slightly larger piston to a 600cc, and now they are 'rated" 20hp to 22hp.. and this thing is a 660cc twin.. You can't really judge small engines by their HP rating; it seems like the testing has changed over the years. You're better off just comparing displacement.

Well I haven’t seen a Dynamark tractor for a while, I think the early Westwood garden tractors here in the UK were badged Dynamarks , I seemed to remember most had the single cylinder flat head Briggs. Being a twin plenty of power, use it for towing the awkward customers of the premises. Thanks great video.

I had that mower when I was kid, it was already old then, mine had a pull start on the right hand side of the dash by the key, mine was a 10 or 12 hp single cylinder

How I got that mower 🤔 when I was a kid my dad had a small lawn mowing buisness for family and friends and stuff he kept about a dozen lawns a week, his name was George and the business name was George of the Jungle lawn care, I still have some old cards, I always went with him to mow the lawns, he died out of nowhere when I was 12 my mom was poor so she sold his stuff since I was to young to drive and pull the trailer, I kept the old push mower and a Ryan brand weed wacker that had the worst carbs ever. I knocked on doors in the neighborhood mowing lawns and found that dynamrk behind a shed, I made a deal with the owner to mow his grass for free all year for that mower once a week cut. Then had a old neighbor help me get it running. Down the road I did the same deal for a New craftsman push mower for a older lady just had to mow her lawn for free and I could have the mower. Mowing was a side hustle I always had until I started another distribution buisness that pays me better lol . Now I just now my 5 acres and that’s enough.

Anything near the street is fair game to them kind! Thanks 65ford I saw that one, I'm sure he will be happy to have been a help. Another thing that is easy to do , if you leave via the PA door is drill a hole in main door track and use a padlock or sliding bolt to lock door from inside before you leave by side door. Cheap security, also bolt timber across door bottom to reinforce it.

No offense but IM experience we got a new 1975 8/36 Danajunk and cut one bumpy acre for five years and the frame was cracked, the hood always vibrated against the dash making a terrible metallic sound. No possy the brakes sucked and the aluminum Briggs had no cast iron sleeve so it smoked like hell after five years! Hated that piece of shit!
