From a live broadcast of "Mister Peepers" starring Wally Cox, aired from the Center Theatre, the sister house to Radio City, long gone. Marion Lorne was a regular and Reta Shaw was a guest.

You beat me to this comment by 5 months! Yes, it is wonderful to see Aunts Clara and Hagatha together again. Actually this would be before Bewitched, at least 10 years before. Were Clara and Hagatha and Endora all supposed to be sisters?

What's interesting is that Reta was also Aunt Bertha in the first season of "Bewitched"

Reta Shaw’s voice is softer here. Loved her as Martha on Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Her voice was gravelly by then; cigarettes and smoking were the bane of this generation.--Two great actresses. Shaw is my favorite character actress.

Love these two old gals, they were characters. Great to see them both. Thanks for this , loved it. Reta played in The Andy Griffith Show, as Elenora Poultice, Barneys voice teacher it's very hard to believe she was born in 1912 wow she was a great actress who appeared in alot of shows , & Marion as Aunt Clara was so good in Bewitched. She was truly a funny gal. They both were.

He was just walking in the door, but another great talent joined these 2 ladies, Wally Cox, who I believe may even have had his own tv show in the 50s.

Mr. Peepers Show , starring Wally Cox . Funny scene but that’s what people did for entertainment before TV and now internet. They sat around and talked , listened to music and entertained themselves . No monthly fees , no Tweets, no fake drama . It was also a skill to use diplomacy and listen to another’s person point of view . One couldn’t hide behind a screen and insult others for the silliest of pretentious hurt feelings.

I wonder if both Marion Lorne and Reta Shaw auditioned for the role of Aunt Clara on Bewitched? Reta Shaw did appear on some Bewitched episodes as Aunt Hagatha. ...Also, Reta Shaw landed her own supporting role as Martha the housekeeper on The Ghost & Mrs. Muir. ...The TV shows back then when I was a kid were absolutely outstanding. And, Wally Cox (Mr. Peepers with the unique comical wit and manners and voice) went on to become a featured performer on Hollywood Squares where he was absolutely adored along with Charlie Weaver and Paul Lynde and so many other well-knowns during that time period.

Am I right in thinking that Reta was the cook in a certain well known Disney film
@HassoBenSoba3 жыл бұрын
TWO well-known Disney films..the ultra famous "Mary Poppins" and the less well-known but excellent "Pollyanna" (1960); if you're a fan of Rita's, you MUST know this film! Also..for a real Rita-extravaganza, check out "Til Death Do US Part" ..a black-comedy episode of THRILLER, with Henry Jones. LR
