Great decision on TikTok and instagram! The last thing we need in this chaotic world is to cater to so many platforms. KZfaq and newsletters rule!🎉

That’s such an ADHD thing I feel focusing on what you have to do later and the obligation sitting on your shoulders. ESP when it’s something where you have to really focus.

HUGE struggle for me too! What is this?!? I spend all my time ahead of the appointment prepping and re-prepping for the appointment and can’t focus on anything else, then after the appointment I am completely drained, and cant move on to anything else.

Some of that 15x watch time was me. Found you a few months ago, and watched everything you've put out and more! You are so approachable (and so much like my best friend, it's eerie) and so real, you've became my fav ADHD creator.

@@CarenMagill I've put my name on the list for the next group thing. I think that's a great way to do it for you and the participants. Like you said, less stress and more fun, and more brains = better ideas. ❤

I am 40 and I'm just now realizing that I do suffer from ADHD. It actually makes me emotional to hear you and others talk about your struggles and me identifying with these symptoms 100%. I have never been hyperactive so I always thought I could not have ADHD but I have learned that a lot of us don't experience hyperactivity. So grateful for your content!

This just brought me so much relief. I have experienced this exact same burn out, interestingly 2 years into my business. I haven’t been able to articulate what is happening but have recognized that deep sense of loneliness. I’ve decided to look for a part-time service job in my community that allows me to be working with others, in a team environment. Whether that is a grocery store, or a coffee shop, I think this will allow me to make my business my passion project and will renew my desire to keep building it in ways other than 1:1 clients. Thank you, Caren for bringing us on your journey with you and being so open and honest about your business. It is so, so helpful! I wonder how many lives you have changed in 2023. I’m guessing more than you know:)

Appts give me anxiety even days before!! I think it’s because I am not sure what my energy level will be like, I’m not sure if I will have pain that day (fibromyalgia) and my motivation level is always low.

I love that, thank you for sharing! I will use the questions to work out my vision/goals for my business. „Unfortunately“, I have yet to be profitable, and get to know my dream clients , so there’s no way around taking on a lot of coaching clients first. 😅😂

I'm an entrepreneur myself crafting, but had to use plyers ECT. For making jewelry. It was one of my favorite and main hobby and we sell at shows. But I can NO longer do it after a fall that I had and misplaced my hip, spine, and shoulder and stole my life. My P.T. said it's the end of therapy because she couldn't help me anymore and is pretty sure my sensory system is messed up mentally from the accident and buildup of health problems since I was 4. We are going to MAYO Clinic in June, but I am almost SENSITIVE to EVERYTHING not just mentally but physically, bad... If I'm depressed, angry, anxious or there's yelling or any loud things around me I sense it in my body and feels like a stomp on my chest, stiffens muscles, heavy breathing, I can't walk during it and depresses me because music is my favorite and I barely sing anymore and have to listen with subtitles from 2-20 volume depending on how I feel. Do you know anything about the sensory system???

I'm glad for my diagnoses because I cannot "growth mindset" my way out of a mental disability. Since I know I have limits, I am able to quickly pivot/ U-turn & develop more useful systems. I'm also better able to tell others to stop pressuring me & can threaten them with the ADA 😅

Hey Caren! I was diagnosed with adhd as a young child *7yo* , have worked with medication most of my life and recently started therapy in my thirties for other issues but a lot of these issues seem to be driven / rooted in my adhd to some degree. I was wondering what was your opinion is on using a therapist vs a coach? I assume both would be great, not sure the real difference between the two. Your coaching videos help give me structure and a "why" to some of my thinking and actions.... where as therapy seems to give me a place to vent about it and unlock new ways of thinking through my issues. Just curious on what you think?

I love this question! I should do a video on it.... From my view (and of course, I'm not a therapist) I would say the difference is that therapy is dealing with the pathology associated with your experience. So, diving into emotional aspects, looking at past experiences and reframing them, and addressing co-morbidities such as anxiety, OCD or depression. A coach takes a more practical approach to dealing with the specific day-to-day challenges associated with ADHD. So helping the client think through solutions and ways to cope and thrive. It's not that we don't address the emotional aspects, but we don't treat the client from the viewpoint of pathology.

Lovely Answer, thank you for clearing some of that up for me. I think your explanation is perfect. Hearing this I am starting to think both can work well together, depending on the person ofcourse.@@CarenMagill

Yes, that's the difference. Also, therapists are licensed under a national credentialing system & must do PDs to re-certify. However, they can only practice in the state they are licensed under. Coaches do not have that standardization. Oh, & insurance is HUGE. If you can find an *occupational therapist* that works with neurodivergent adults, then that's the best of both worlds.

I schedule my clients at 9,10,12,1,3&4, max, and that is still a lot but no more than 2 back to back. My sister schedules a half hour break between all of her clients. I only see people 3 days a week

No I’m not at all, but I am a clinical social worker and it is probably less intense than coaching in some ways for most clients. Also the number varies. This week I have 13 people in 3 days. Last week it was only 5. I get up very early and spend hours journaling, praying, reading my Bible and working out before the day begins and don’t do any draining tasks on client days even if there is time. A good night sleep is always imperative and I drink watered down coffee from about 5am to 3pm 1/3 strength and try not to over do that. I never was prescribed any kind of stimulant or other adhd med bc I diagnosed myself and I’m 58 and ok and now I’ve found your videos! Woohoo. I’ve been stop-watching my times today, and it is really eye opening! I’m not taking too long. I’m doing more than I thought and it is all important to me 😅 thank you! You are awesome!
