There was a great drama I believe from the 1990's that dealt with the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950's and 1960's. It was called "I'll Fly Away" starring Sam Watterston before "Law & Order", and it was gone way too soon.

It's Your Move had one of my favorite episodes of any show. The two of them went on a game show and the neighbor told the kid in order to get them on he had to make up an elaborate backstory for the both of them about being explorers or some such nonsense. As a result, the kid was supposed to have sleeping sickness due to being bitten by tsetse flies on one of the trips. The kid used this fact to great effect when it cam time for him to answer questions only he would know, where he "fell asleep" mid show much to the neighbor's chagrin. I loved that show.

One I'm surprised you didn't mention was Police Squad. It was the creation of the Zucker brothers of Airplane! fame and it starred Leslie Neilson and George Kennedy. The show only lasted 6 episodes. However, it turned into a huge movie franchise that most of you would remember as The Naked Gun series. The reason the show was cancelled was because the producers didn't think the audience wouldn't get the sight gags. The movie franchise proved them wrong. Oh, and Just Our Luck is our first example of 'get woke, go broke'.

That way the show could have ended around the mid 1990s, for example the show could have ended in the Spring of 1994 or the Spring of 1995, but it did not happened, because Bea Arthur wanted to leave in the spring of 1992. In Nov 1981 - to Jan 1982 , ABC aired a “ Twilight Zone “ like series called “ Darkroom “ hosted by James Coburn . Due to a lawsuit , it was canceled after 7 episodes. Also a crime drama titled “ Today’s FBI “ aired for one full season that same year .

Tales of the Gold Monkey was a great show, sadly ended too soon. Collins crimes aside, it was another Belisario gem and a lot of the actors turned up in his other shows like Magnum, Airwolf & Quantum Leap. It was set just before WW2 by the way, not WW1. It was a clear Raiders cash in, but artfully done, and cancelled too soon. Caitlin O'Heaney, who played Sarah Stickney-White, would later go on to play the 'Hot teacher' in the under-rated 80's gem Three O'Clock High.

It’s Your Move was very underrated and most of the staff and David Garrison would all work together again on Married with Children, which like It’s Your Move had an edge. Funny you mentioned The Dregs of Humanity episode, the very next episode right after that infamous Dregs of Humanity episode, he actually did caught by his mom when he tried to find a way to get his mom’s boss a raise and it backfires badly on him. That episode marked the beginning of the format change into a more traditional sitcom after the fuss about parents made about the Matt Burton character being a bad influence on kids as well as the move to Saturdays from Wednesdays. Very brilliant video overall here.

Wow! I consider myself a vintage TV junkie. You've opened my brain with this!! I don't remember 90% of these. In 1988, my dad had terminal cancer and from late 1987 to 1989, I didn't watch much TV because I wasn't enjoying it as much. BOSOM BUDDIES and SQUARE PEGS have always been well referenced shows, I didn't realize they were ratings duds. Eventually, my 80s TV "must" watches were NEWHART and EMPTY NEST.

With the exceptions of Just Our Luck, Square Pegs and Bosom Buddies, I watched and loved all of these shows. It's Your Move - I LOVE the Christmas episode where they were mixing up a chemical in the bathtub and giving it as gifts, either as cologne or liquor. At one point his sister come out and complains that it's starting to eat through the tub. Norman says that if he thinks so little of him that he'd give him a bottle of the stuff, he can forget it. Matt casually picks up a notepad and crosses his name off the list. Of course also the two part episode with the Dregs of Humanity. :)

I was going to suggest the series Paradise (aka Guns Of Paradise). It was a western starring Lee Horsley (probably best known for his titular role in the show, Matt Houston) as a gun slinger named Ethan Allen Cord who ends up inheriting his sister's four kids when she dies. He gives up being a gun fighter and becomes a farmer, but his previous life keeps coming back to bite him in the butt. Turns out that it was more popular than I remember, being renewed for a second and third season. But I also remember the show ending without any kind of satisfying conclusion. So while it wasn't cancelled after only one season, it was still cancelled too soon.

I’m sorry but that’s not your decision. I don’t think it’s fair to say anything about this and that when it comes to everything that’s all. I think it’s fair to say that they don’t have the time to do this because that’s not important anymore. Let them decide what they want to do and figure out an better way to do things. We have plenty of chores to do and don’t have to argue about television stuff anymore. I’m sorry but I cannot go on and on for a long time - sometimes it’s best to let everything else go away and moved on with our lives just like the way we used to.

I also liked *Misfits of Science.* But I should say... I liked the IDEA of that. In my young age I also started to draw a comic, based on that concept (and yes, I saw that show BEFORE the Marvel comics). But my "need" to make a comic was fed from FRUSTRATION: the show had great potential, but everything was so slow and their skills never grew up to make it cool. I wanted more action and excitement. As same as for the show *"My Secret Identity",* where I was hoping all the time to see the character to learn to master his powers and start to be cool, but it was slow, not that funny and at the end of the season he was still lame like he just got his powers that week. For god's sake! He had a scientist friend able to create any freaking impossible device, to compensate his inability to fly (he can only float) and make other possible useful gadgets... but they chose to keep the castrating argument "I'm not going to help you to become a super hero, jeopardising your incolumity !", perfectly knowing that he would have kept going to act on his own, but without his precious help. (because in fiction, geniuses are all stupid).
@BETMARKonTube
@BETMARKonTube 11 ай бұрын
To prove my point: even in the clip he used for this video, he had to add cool music to a collection of the few action scenes toke from different episodes and focus on the only 2 character with an interesting power. And still, you can see every scene is terribly slow and they take forever to use it once... and the small man just kinda fit inside small holes. That's all of the action of the show.

Type II Diabeetus! Wilford Brimley looked grumpy, but he was actually really friendly and down to talk to fans over social media or otherwise. I told him once we had a neighborhood kitty that had an uncanny resemblance to him and we named it Wilford Brimley. However, when Wilford had kittens, we changed her name to Winifred Brimley. He thought this was pretty funny and said he wish we'd had a photo to share. Unrelated to Type II Diabeetus or Quaker Oats, I have a cat currently who I inherited from my post-military friend and mentor who passed through the veil in 2021. 3 of them in fact. He wasn't good at naming cats. They were Fat Girl (who's not fat), Naughty (who's really well behaved...mostly), and White Guy (which is true, but he has orange spots, too. And he's hooge.) When we adopted them, we changed their names to Beep (a reference to her voice), Naughty (it was the only good one), and Ron Howard. This cat has an uncanny resemblance to the actor/director, Ron Howard, and whenever anyone sees him for the 1st time and asks his name, they chuckle and agree! lol When he stands he's nearly the same height that Opie was on Andy Griffith, as well! Oh, did I miss it, or did "Manimal" not make this list? I remember when it was relegated to a very late time slot, I would stay up to watch. But then they'd switch its times without warning or announcement. Then... The Manimal turned into a hawk and flew away, never to ignite the imagination of young dudes again. I would sign up for Manimal experiments in a heartbeat! lol 🤣
