New Saturn controllers that work as good as the originals with longer cables? Oh hell yeah!

WOW! A SEGA Saturn controller for PS2? Never knew that. These retrobit controllers are awesome. I see SEGA is making a comeback in some sorts. Re-releases of their games in HD, their products, & new games. Looking forward to Dreamcast controller. Go SEGA. 🎮

I got the Saturn controller and I'm really happy with it. I'm excited for the Dreamcast controller to come out. I'd love wireless Saturn and Dreamcast controllers to be released.

I have both the Saturn controller (USB and original) and the Six Button Blue Genesis pad. I haven't used the Genesis pad yet, but the Saturn controller fells really well-built and works flawlessly. They did a good job on these and I love the boxes as well.

I can confirm that the original Sega-made, six button Genesis controller also has a really tight fit. Great overview of these controllers and kudos for showing the PS2-compatible Saturn pad.

I'm looking forward to their wireless controllers, primarily the Dreamcast ones.

Retrobit is planning on releasing wireless ones as well...I have the official megadrive wireless controllers, which are also quite rare, but they use infrared technology. Having bluetooth ones would be awesome! As always, great informative video. Keep it up!

Dreamcast is still my favourite console but recently bought a Saturn and realizing how amazing this console is. Very underrated.

One very tiny issue with the Genesis controller: it might not work with clone consoles that use original controllers. I got a Genesis controller and it works great with my real Genesis. It feels high quality. However, it doesn't work at all with my Retro Freak multi clone console. I don't understand why, but it just doesn't. I haven't tried it with a Retron or Analogue Mega SG, but just because these look and feel exactly like original controllers, don't expect them to work with all clone consoles. I was really excited about playing the superior SNES or PC Engine ports of Street Fighter II with the Genesis 6 button controller, but I had to find a different solution.

That Saturn controller is a really big deal since a lot of the Neo Geo consolized MVS on the market also have Saturn port.

They are also making wireless versions. Plus a added dongle that lets you use the wireless controller on og hardware

How about a wireless Sega Saturn 3D controller? I personally like it better than the regular model 2 Controller. Is it just me? I mean, what’s up with the original 3D controller being detachable? You tell me.

I got mine a while ago. They are both awesome. Getting hard to find Saturn controllers as well so to be able to buy a brand new one in 2019 is amazing.

Another odd-ball USB controller for consoles, was a Neo-Geo CD controller for the PS3 licensed by SNK that was done to promote the release of Neo Geo games on the Playstation Store.

Just for reference, the Genesis controller works fine on the Mega sg. Beautiful controller too by the way, plays great.

I want one! My Frankenstein setup is about 4ft away from my couch so I use a 3rd party controller, which works but not like the oem

mad catz had a 6 button dc controller. the extra two buttons emulated the should triggers. if im not mistaken it was also programmable

I just brought some of these at a game store here in Sydney Australia called The Gamesmen and they had a mega drive mini console and a USB 3 button controller in the display cabinet, should have asked them to have a quick look, sure they would have but l was in a hurry, the console is so small and cute and the 3 button controller looks exactly like a brand new launch one from when the mega drive was released except for the USB connection on the end of it, l actually have a couple of brand new 3 button controllers still would be cool to see them release new ones as well as the 3D saturn controller's

The six-button controller for the Genesis is just far superior all around. There’s no reason to go for the three-button version except for nostalgia.

It's good that Retrobit decided to include an update function. Due to this I was able to update the firmware of Mega Drive receiver as originally there was a horrible input lag in "Virtua Racing". Now it's playing as it should. 6-Button controller is simply more convinient and better known everywhere else. All clones were made with 6 buttons as they can be used for games like "Comix Zone", all "Mortal Kombat" titles, "Street Fighter" series.

I have been getting back into the Saturn lately and have some white controller, so I bought their black one that I remember having as a teenager... I absolutely had to support a new, official Saturn product! I've been thinking about doing some videos and being inspired by the Saturn, remembering how much I love it. I just plunked down on a copy of Elevator Action Returns.

The 6 button Sega Genesis controller was to be used with fighting games like Eternal Champions, Street Fighter 2 SCE, Mortal Kombat 1 & 2, etc. It also functions on Ranger X and Streets of Rage 3. There were notable improvements over the 3 button besides the additional X Y and Z buttons. The D-pad was hands down the best D-Pad design Sega ever made. It was incredibly accurate, built like a tank. I never had a D-Pad fail on me, unlike the Dreamcast pivot design D-Pads (I went through 2 of them). And the buttons were very responsive. My only issue with the Genesis 6 button pad was its overall size. My hands felt cramped on it. The Saturn V2 is the Japanese Saturn pad. I don't know why the US had to mess with the controller design? Maybe they intended to make it bigger, but they only succeeded in worsening the D-Pads responsiveness, and causing some of the worst thumb blisters since the original NES controller. When Sega released the 3D controller, I quickly got 2 and never used the original Saturn pads again. For digital controls, the 3D Pad was amazing. It had the same D-pad from the Japanese Saturn controller and 6 larger buttons. In Analog mode... The triggers were nice. The Analog pad was inaccurate. It was all or nothing, when using the analog stick.

I believe retro bit had wind of genesis/mega drive mini before the pubic cuz Sega did say for us in north America if want the 6 button controller we buy separate

I bought an old Genesis controller recently that is barely used. Trying to plug it into my model 2 Genesis I can say it was a fairly tight fit and that is an original 1990s controller with little use on it.

Another reason to use six face buttons is for the Fighting Game community. They love these pads

10 foot cables are nice. I have so many extension cables for everything from the Saturn to the GameCube. Gets pretty cumbersome.

How are the triggers? Those were the only thing that I have heard mixed things about for the Retrobit controllers

Great video man. I’ve found that the 6 button controllers are much harder to find and they are also much better than the original in both form and function. As a result they are more expensive. Also. the original box stated that it was the Sega Genesis and Sega CD. They were likely just trying emulate the original.

Dreamcast pads extra face buttons will most likely be L2 R2 triggers.

I got the blue genesis controller back in April and its a great controller. Another console I think would be cool to get a new controller treatment would be the PC engine/TurboGrafx 16 with an all in one 6 button controller that has a switch on it to use select or run assigned to button 3 like the 3 button controllers when its set to 2/3 button mode would be a great controller if it got made.

Thanks for the review. I have a genesis multitap hooked to my genesis for mega bomberman. But over the years I noticed 2 of my controllers stopped functioning. I'm gonna try a couple knowing now they are good. Maybe refresh the whole set if I like them

There are some games that have compatibiltiy for z and c buttons on the dreamcast; i'm expecting these buttons to act the same way

They are pretty cool I have the clear blue Sega Genesis 6 button controllers I'm waiting for the clear blue Saturn controllers to come out I say one in a E3 video.

I tried the Megadrive Usb pad, I quite like it but had to problems with it, sometimes the Diagonals did not register 100% of the time and it being a Usb game pad and not a Xbox one or 360 compatible pad meant a lot of games would not recognize it, so i had to use programs like joy 2 key or x output. I am tempted to pick up the Saturn usb pad but was curious if the d pad was better

I've been using one of 8-Bit Do's M30 wifi controllers on my Mega Drive. It's amazing.

Hell yeah dude. I use mine as my main controllers too. I kept the boxes of course, and they're sitting on display in my room. It's a really cool sensation to be using brand-new Sega-licensed Genesis controllers with your console that you've had since you were a kid. I was so excited about getting mine after I pre-ordered them, that I actually went out of my way to take apart my childhood Sega Genesis model 2, clean it off, and re-solder both controller ports (they both had shorts in the connection and didn't work all that well)........ I had only soldered once before in my life, and I'm glad I did this time, because I ACTUALLY MANAGED TO FIX IT!!!!!!! HAH!!!!!!!! /endrant LOL XD

Saturn one looks awesome. I got a black one for my sega genesis works great. Also got an island blue usb for the mini in sept. Was never too hip on the dreamcast controller. D pad wasn't all that great for fighting games.

I picked up the black and translucent USB controllers a few weeks ago. The black one was broken right out of the box. Took it back for a refund. The translucent one has been working fine.

I almost bought the Saturn controller (not the usb version) to use on my Saturn console. Unfortunately, it will not work with any controller adapter. It would be great to also use Saturn's directional button to play fighting games on PS4/PS3, Switch or PC without using more gimmicks.

Personally I prefer the six button pad to the 3 button one, definitely felt a lot more aerodynamic! I figure if they did the three button one you'd have a harder time using it on MK, Street Fighter, Eternal Champions, etc. So of course they made a pad compatible with more of the Genesis' lineup! (minus a few of the games I remember it having issues with, like TENGEN Ms. Pac-Man) Same with the Saturn Model 2 I played on the OG Model 1 pad once it was terrible the shape of the controller and the d-pad design just... ugh.

(Saturn pad - have both the Saturn re-release and the USB) The controller is exactly the same as the Japanese pad there's no difference what so ever the colours are the same, however in Japan SEGA did two other versions of the clear pad, the other two, one was bundled with the Derby-Stallions console pack and is actually identical the other is identical but in the centre says "THIS IS COOL" and both were bundled with clear consoles, the latter being the "SKELLINGTON/THIS IS COOL" pack, I have both boxed new, there super sexy! lol The Saturn and DreamCast where SEGAs best consoles, I LOVE my Saturn especially the my Japanese console, the Japanese releases in 1998 where unbelievable an amazing library games! From start to finish really and the DreamCast, don't get me started on that, awesome console! Fantastic video as ever Adam.

Yea, I for sure need a new Saturn controller, that new one looks really coo.....Wait, wait, wait a second, *I'm* the crazy PlayStation controller fanatic! You can't just bust out some super sexy Sega Saturn PlayStation 2 controller I've never seen like it's no big thing. I thought I knew almost all the awesome ones, that is definitely on my list to get, would be awesome to play the M2 Sega Compilations with that controller. Or any 2D game(I still love my PlayStation d-pad though). One question about these new Sega controllers, do they have that ball bearing under the center of the d-pad like the old controllers do? That was the reason I fell in love with the Sega 3 button, it was almost incapable of wearing down with that little addition.

Unfortunately they didn’t get the D-pad quite right despite it feeling quite good under the thumb , compared to the original official 6 button controller doing quarter circles and dragon punches in street fighter is far less reliable using one of these, i though i had a duff controller, but looking in Amazon reviews and some other Facebook groups i wasn’t the only one that noticed this

These controllers look great and they are convenient but they are not made for people with big hands. I recommend the BrawlerGen Genesis USB Controller from Retro-Fighters for people in my situation.

The mold for the new Sega Dreamcast controller looks like the old one (shitty), the makers of the newer Dreamcast controller should look at a an OG Xbox controller, a Wii U pro controller, or an Xbox 360 controller mold and they should use that design! Keep the D-pad with the thumbstick. The original Dreamcast controller feels like shit in the hands to where my hands are canted inwards which feels awkward. I pray they get it right!

Saturn controllers have a huge following in the fighting game community. I own 50 because of that. I even use them for my PS4 I also use Saturn on Dreamcast more than the actual Dreamcast controller.

Can confirm it works on 32x. I've had no issues running the gamepad on about 15 32x games with no issues.

I'm worried that the Dreamcast ones won't have VMU support, especially the USB ones. I suppose there's no reason to have the VMU slot do anything on PC, but it's just a waste of space. I'd be cool if it didn't do anything out of the box, but programmers could send data to it and actually display things on the screen, but I think I'm asking too much there

There is a difference in feel between the original and retro bit Genesis controller. Plastic is more textured and has a harder feel.
