My efforts to get a stained plastic cover back to factory fresh beige
The peroxide was from amazon. www.amazon.co.uk/Truzone-Crea...
The box is "wham" brand, from Home Bargains and I've lined it with ordinary tin foil, glued on with flour & water for easy maintenance.
The lighting strips were from Aliexpress, they are 12v 1A each x8
and the lights are powered by a spare ATX PSU I had in the cupboard.

retrobriting a yellowed disk drive sounds like star trek techno-babble even though i know what all those things are

You can also use a 50 / 50 mix of Metholated spirit and Acetone. or 60% acetone 40% Meths in a squirt bottle.YMMV Rub in with a cloth, it will remove the top layer . Might get a little sticky. B&M do glass squirt bottles. Then buff /rub into the surface with T-Cut. You essentially take to top layer off and the t-cut removes the stickyness

I guess that would work with smooth plastics but it would spoil a textured finish. I once tried to clean an amstrad pc keyboard with acetone and it virtually dissolved it 😂

You do not want acetone around plastics. That's on the definite do not do list.

@@rickhalverson2252 you can use it when mixed with methylated spirits as I detailed above. 50/50 or 40/60 and a rag and then buff with t-cut. Takes the surface layer off. They don’t recommend using UV light as it makes plastics brittle. There’s been many successful experiments using a heat and a slow cooker
