The first ARC was launched way back in 1991, designed to be the ultimate race machine. While the new ARC clearly pays homage to the original race bike, its intentions are slightly different.
Yeti claims its latest carbon fibre technology and modern trail bike geometry ensure this new bike is rooted in the present and will highlight just how versatile a hardtail can really be.
Yeti is offering five different build models (six if you include the much pricier, limited-edition anniversary model), all of which are made from the premium T-Series carbon fibre.

I have had one on order (frame only in turquoise size medium)since early August but the wait is sooooo long! Early March 2021 delivery. Specing it with XTR , Fox SC34 forks, and Maxxis Aspens for a more XC orientated ride.

Absolutely boil is few rules in hardtail world we don't ride anything else than steel is real or aluminium. Carbon is for dentist and kooks, the head angle is a joke too. Review a proper hardtail handmade in England like Stanton they deserve it!

I'm ready to buy, but unsure a/b what size. I know their chart lays out the respective size to height, but I'm used to sizing down on road bikes. Could you share your height & frame size & your impressions?

I think it's a really nice hardtail and Yeti has really done it again with this ARC but back when the original ARC was sold it was the best high end boutique aluminum frame available with very little competition. Maybe Klein or a few other brands. Today they have a lot of competition, not just carbon but with high end steel and some Ti frames at that price range. Perhaps they will appeal to the Yeti tribe that wants to add a hardtail or wants to join the tribe with a decked out hardtail. I'm sure that's what Yeti an their marketing department are hoping for but personally I don't see it and I love hardtail's and think Yeti is an amazing brand.

Geese, we got some real mathematicians on here... you guys realize that head angle generally correlates to the amount of fork travel. 66-67 degree head angle for a 120, 130mm fork on a modern bike. Even Evils 3rd attempt at the Following has those numbers. Do your homework people, before knocking an iconic brand like Yeti for making another incredible bike.

@@alex1231235 I love it. Its my first experience with the SLX drivetrain and I have zero complaints. Once it broke in, I adjusted the rear mech and it is awesome! My only complaint was braking. The stock brakes are a bit underpowered for me. Then again, I am a bit larger than your average mountain biker and I ride fast, mountain trails. I pulled the trigger and went with SRAM Code RSCs front and rear, 203 up front and 180 in the rear. Is it overkill? For most, yes. For me, a 210lb full-send guy, they are amazing. Stock fork is nice too, but I got an MRP Ramp Control for it and it works amazing. So, the drivetrain is stock, the brakes have been swapped and I did a $130 upgrade to the fork. I also change the bars and stem, but that is fit preference. So, for me, if I could only have one bike, this would be it. Also, being a wide-geared 29er, you can ride on the street comfortably. Hope this helps.

Awesome review man thanks!!, I just purchased the Yeti Arc in the Turquoise color a few hours ago, can't wait for it to arrive. My current bike is a Trek Fuel Ex 8 (full suspension), that bike is fun, but deft. heavier than what I am use to. My last hard tail was a Fuji Panic many many years ago. Excited to bring back the hardtail experience.

If I could afford it I’d get the SLX version of it . At the age of 71 I think this bike would suit me well for the trails I would ride in Arizona where I live.

Great Review. My Rekon didn't last long and was prone to flats on the ARC. Tired of flats, DD Aggressor 2.5 holding up well.

It’s really not that expensive. Compare it to other brands and comparable builds. I recently got the Deore/SLX build which goes for $3600 USD and I feel like it’s a fair price for what the bike is.

You didn't even show the original ARC hardtail at the beginning, that was a full suspension that Missy Giove raced downhill on. The original was a hardtail with those one piece chain stay and seat stay curved sections that made it stand out. I was new to Mtn biking and absolutely dreamed of owning one.

The one negative for me about that frame is non thread which is press fit BB I’m not a fan of that I like mine threaded bc is easy maintenance, easy install ,easy to replace don’t be mad that’s just my opinion

Use one of the Wheels manufacturing threaded “pf” bb. Problem solved. And, it’s not very difficult to remove a pf bb. Tap tap, done. How often are you really removing it anyways. PF bb fear brings me back to the 1990’s. They don’t freak and they need very little maintenance.

They lost me with de press fit but apart from that for that money you can build a titanium hardtail with top components and you'd still have enough money to spend one month in Ainsa

When I personally myself think carbon bike I think, scared thoughts. Will it snap like the one I had before as I descend. Will it bend over time and eventually snap like that last one I had. I do not buy carbon anymore personally unless I can be assured it holds a great deal more than my weight. Which it wont. As Im a big boy.

I really like this type of bike. I sold my FS Stumpy and I am in the process of building Ibis DV9, which is similar to ARC, although the reach is a bit shorter. However, DV9 frame is way cheaper (999 USD) and you can buy yourself carbon wheel set for the price difference. Plus it has threaded BB. Ibis just stopped selling their DV9 so there might be a new model, but I would recommend getting the frame while it is available elsewhere. Some dealers might still have it in stock. Anyway, Yeti Arc seems like great bike, but too pricey IMHO.

Who is this bike for? It isn't the price sensitive shopper, it isn't the XC racer, it's very pricy as your "other bike". Is it for the person who wants a hardtail second bike and can afford the very best? That's a niche market.

I would say it's for someone who wants an incredibly capable bike - one that will do the work of a full-sus, but with the stiffness, simplicity and lower weight of a hardtail. This would never be a second bike - this would be my only bike, and if its a good as of looks, I'd only need one!

I picked one up a few weeks ago. I can say it is for die-hard hardtails guys and riders who ignore the geo numbers and just rip it. Its a "Jack of all trades, master of none."

If money was no object for me I'd have in a heartbeat. However, if I had the money for one of these I'd also have a full suspension enduro. It's a great bike but it wouldn't be my only bike.

Well, actually, ya, it is for niche market. It's for mountain bikers that like to buy cool shit that works. I bought a frame, built it up with parts I like. It's a second bike to my Stumjumper Evo. Look, hardtails aren't for everybody. But, there is a market for them. I would say this is probably the only 67deg. HA carbon hardtail that is on the market from a great company. There's definitely a market for that.

Nice video thanks. I disagree about wanting more lower-end bikes. I like a mixture - but I certainly love next watching reviews of such lovely bikes - even if I’m unlikely to buy one.

I'm looking for a carbon hardtail for the very very long multi-hours backcountry loops (mix of apshalt, single, double, macadam, tractor routes - not overly steep up or down - with some rowdy trails I come accross here and there that I just shred with the grin on my face), which I fell in love with lately, using my old and seriously outdated hardtail. I think this bike would be just great for that - even with the 'relaxed', bit steep 67° HA. steep STA is spot on, but HA should've been 65°, at least 66°. too bad for that missed opportunity. also, it has integrated headset and you can't use angleset, so you're stuck with 67°. bit high ST as well, but with my 183cm, I could go on XL even (I'd like to have more reach than on L) with dropped slammed all the way in. all this considered, it still could be just be perfect for my application. also the price - the usual Yeti 'problem'. but it is what it is.

67 Degree head angle seems step in 2020 on a Trail hard tail, Those numbers make it look more XC, Both of my last 2 short travel 29er frames have been below 65 degree

Everything functions properly kzfaq.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of KZfaq. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!

They should have cut the steerer tube way shorter, looks bad when it's that long. (In my opinion)

While it doesn't look great, having a longer steerer tube is great when testing a bike as it allows you to experiment with different stem/bar heights which is super important when trying to get a feel for a new bike. Agreed, if it was cut flush it'd look way nicer, though!

The bb height can definitely take it, so you won't feel like your center of mass is to high like on other bikes. Seat angle and head angle will be 1° slacker, still definitely ridable. To adjust the travel on a fox 34 you need a new air shaft though, which isn't as cheap or straight forward as adding or removing spacers. If you've custom built the frame and use a fork with a spacer system, I guess it would be a no-brainer to play around with those things.

I reallly really really want to have deep pockets right now! Damn, this bike is sexy, it is beautifull, light, agile, capable, confidence inspiring... Yeti has created the best hardtail ever on my eyes with this ARC. If I ever have the pockets to buy one I would have the C1 build and buy a separate set of 700C wheels and tyres for every day use in the city. I really hope I can give my opinion on this bike based on an owners perspective and not just a fan perspective.

I'm 172cm/5ft 8in. Medium felt fine and really easy to throw around. I think I'd be fine on a large too though.

Run a Fox 34SC 120mm fork and you are good to go. Jared Graves recently raced his new A.R.C. in that format.

They're simply releasing something to please the current trend. A couple of months ago it was down country now this. Not saying that such varieties doesn't fill a purpose. A couple of years back everybody wanted a heavy fat enduro, after that a trailbike and soon down country. I never switched from lycra soon I'm hip again!

A serius hardtail is alwais superior bike . If there aint skilift and not to bumpy It´s so. If your tecnical rider who now how to plant your wheel in corners and want power performence you easaly outrun fulldamped bikes. It´s a fact. Hardtailers alvais been better looking and faster and gets more chiks.

I like the fact that they used PF BB. PF BB is clearly superior from the engineering point of view. I dislike that many brands are going backwards to threaded BBs just because they do not want to spend money on manufacturing tolerances and quality control. And their backward bikes are still getting more and more expensive.🧐🤨

Totally understand your point here. I (and I think most of the mountain bikers in the BikeRadar office) tend to prefer working on threaded bottom brackets rather than press fit. Sorry, didn't want to make it sound like press fit is inferior, it just adds a little more complication into removal/fitting.

I think you belong in an inferior group of mtb riders. Manufacturers are making BSA bb’s because the buyers want them. If made right, it’s much easier to mount and maintain the BSA bb..... I’m put off buying this frame because of the pressfit bb.....

The hottest hardtails are the Kona Honzo ESD and Marin El Roy. This is an overpriced dentist bike.

This is not Yeti any more, just the name... Has completely lost its charm from the former John Parker- Yetis. All made in Korea...but heavily expensive on top! And those 29“ wheels look weirdly too large, at least for this frame size. Not a fan anymore! I think 26“ for MTB / Hardtail is still the most harmonic size!

Just popping in to remind everyone that pressfit BB's are objectively better than threaded, if your press fit BB creaks it's because your BB shell isn't straight. If you can't trust your frame company to make the bottom bracket shell straight and level, you shouldn't buy the bike. Threaded bottom brackets aren't a solution to poorly made frames, they cover up the problem by cranking the bearing cups down so hard that you can't work them loose.

Jesper Lund one day the magnificent French will produce a mtb frame. Honestly though my commencal meta tr and stump jumper have been flawless with the press fit BB, my previous cannondale was from the planet gonorrhea
