Yes, he did recently talk about how he got fat and how he's trying to lose weight bc society treats fat people horribly. Of course, he also treats fat people horribly and encourages others to engage in that behavior. So we've essentially gone nowhere.

@ebd813 I'm not black, so take this with a huge grain of salt, but I believe it stems from internalized anti-blackness. Yes, the man is black, but he believes he deserves 'better' than a black woman. And usually, to people with this mindset, that means a white woman. It also stems from misogyny. Black is bad. Woman is bad. Black woman is double bad. This is obviously a very bare bones explanation but I believe that's essentially the gist of it.

Back when I was in college a couple months ago, I did a study group with a few of my friends, and I randomly went into my mom‘s Amazon prime, and forgot that she had all of Quan Mills books this one included. We were looking through them, and then one of my friends pointed out this book and the first page I could not stop laughing and neither could my friend. I was surprised we were able to be quiet with other people around, but laughing so hard.😂😂😂

Your salad dressing/sherbet fixation sounds like me a few years ago when I hyper fixated on infusing my own oil for cooking. IIRC I had a garlic olive oil, an Italian herb olive oil, a shallot vegetable oil, and a garlic/Szechuan peppercorn vegetable oil. They were pretty good, but my ADHD moved me on from hyper fixation to me totally forgetting about them until this minute.

He made the money he set out to make. He did an interview somewhere, where they asked him about the subject matter and motivation and he straight up said he was choosing themes and storylines and topics almost purely out of novelty, shock value, the rage bait. Not in those words, but like the fatphobia, the agism, the way it's written is kind of it's own marketing. You can't help but talk about it and that drives people to check it out.

I think what sets him apart from Chuck Tingle is that with Chuck the joke is often the absurdity of the titles and situation and he doesn't make the often queer characters being queer the butt of the joke. Quan can say he's being satirical but like Kennie said it really does read like we're supposed to be laughing at his characters instead of some social commentary.
