Revealed: The charity turning UK universities woke

In recent years universities have been wracked by furious debates over statues and plaques, outrage over controversial speakers and campaigns to decolonise curricula.
Advance HE, a democratically unaccountable quango, runs several schemes aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion in British universities.
These initiatives are aimed at influencing the policies, processes and actions of institutions that take part. Professor James Orr of Cambridge university explores how Advance HE operates in a film for The Telegraph.
A spokesperson for Advance HE said: "Like universities, we share a long-standing commitment to promoting and protecting freedom of speech and academic freedom. Our charters complement freedom of speech, as they enhance the voice and input of a more diverse range of staff and students.”

Yes, implicit bias "training" at best it is a waste of money and has no evidence of efficacy. At worst, it can be thought of as a form of reeducation when it is being forced upon staff in some cases.

The problem with AdvanceHE is that there is no counter-weight. Every push meets an open door. Perhaps the Universities' Free Speeh Bill represents an opportunity for an orgainsation like FSU to develop a programme rather like Athena SWAN for free speech -- with a charter and awards, university action plans, and so on.

I love how all those opinions of students that, there are no issues with free speech, are disregarded within the narrative and the biggest named problem is addressing class as "everyone" instead of ladies and gentlemen. It's not the problem with people being more anti free speech, it's about de-platforming people who use too much populism and stifle progress in the name of the tradition (their fear of the new). As a cis white student, the only problems I encounter where with people who take themselves too seriously and are not capable of processing reason and humor at the same time.

It is when the people speaking up don't let anyone else speak up. Please remember that more and more footage and witness statements come out weekly showing that the louder activists who keep fighting for others rights rarely have any evidence of the injustice they fight for. They rarely have any facts for what they fight and they definitely never stick to truth.
