@Parking_lot182 if the best friend got evidence, i agree with you. in the absence of proof, the wife will create a scene and will probably try to trick the husband into believing that the best friend is trying to ruin their marriage or something. as a result, the wife will victimize herself and make her husband even more drawn to her and her lies. cuz if i were the husband, i would honestly stick to my wife's word if there wasn't any evidence.

Okay so I have a similar story, my bestie met met this guy and they ended up being really close she used to text him all night while texting me rarely, which I was jealous of so when I met him I didn't like him at first, but then we got along so my jealousy died down, so this guy ended up developing a huge crush on her, and part of the reason she wanted me to get close to him was so he would develope a crush on me and move on from her, and obviously I was like "no way dude", and the more I got to know his feelings for her I realized he had it baaad for her and it wasn't simply a matter of him just finding someone else, well anyways we all knew that she didn't like him, everyone but him that is, she kept leading him on, not necessarily telling him he had a chance but not turning him down when everyone knew that's what she wanted to do, well it was like this for couple of months and then she got a boyfriend and told everyone to keep it from him, and even months of being in a relationship she still kept leading this poor guy on, while being like "guys, don't tell him anything imma tell him", so coincidentally I ended up meeting him the day after she finally decided to turn him down but she still hadn't told him about the boyfriend, I just couldn't hold it in and told him, thinking that it would help him get over her better,he thanked me for telling him, but she was angry, well I still weaseled my way out of her anger and it all died down quickly but yea, I love you bestie but you were literally playing with his feelings and even I, someone who has no feelings, felt sorry for him

The one being the bad friend is the one doing the cheating and putting the other friend in the position of knowing and having to worry about whether or not to do the right thing, and it pains me that so many people would consider someone the "bad friend" for telling the person being cheated on what they deserve to know. I know you don't, hence "bad" being in quotes and all, but yeah. It pains me to my soul that anyone would be seen as the "bad friend" for telling. It might be because I was in a similar position. My best friend was always cheating on his girlfriends and then even his wife and would tell me about it. I asked him repeatedly not to tell me about it, that the conversation itself made me uncomfortable and that I was even more uncomfortable with having to keep his secret for him by lying. I eventually told him I wouldn't lie for him anymore. When his wife asked indirect questions I kind of dodged the issue. "No, I don't know where he is." instead of saying like "He's probably over fucking Jennifer right now, did you try there?" When she finally got around to asking me directly "Is he cheating on me?" I had to tell the truth. I did feel bad about betraying his trust, but I had asked him repeatedly not to put that trust in me in the first place. We're still friends now, but it definitely put our relationship on the rocks for a while several different times.

It's just so well known at this point it warrants at least a little surprise when someone doesn't know. Especially when the person who doesn't know is female, because the show had such a large female audience. This is a bit of an uncommon case where it concerns this show because of the whole "McDreamy" thing, which made the show even more well known, as well as its long run-time. It'd be like someone not knowing the show Supernatural is being referenced when someone talks about Sam and Dean Winchester.
