Ok maybe unpopular opinion but imo in general teachers dont deserve the redemption arc they have been getting online/with public perception. Yes, it is true that they are often overworked and underpaid and dealing with kids all day every day can be so emotionally taxing and a teacher can impact students deeply for better or for worse and it is a job that deserves to be regarded with importance. And yes many teachers are great people who recognize the fundamental flaws w the public education system and just want to create some good from within this messed up system HOWEVER so many teachers are weirdly mean spirited people who enjoy the power dynamic they have over literal children, are instrumental in reenforcing societal conditioning upon kids, blatantly fumble delicate emotional matters of others bc they dont care and are in pain themselves, and are often in those jobs bc they wanted to make a practical secure career choice under the guise of doing something good and try to impart similar practical ideologies onto the people theyre teaching. Theyre are good and bad people in any profession obviously but on the whole lets not just act like all teachers deserve to be held in higher regards because god, so so many of them deserve the opposite
