D'une Picardie sous contrôle bourguignon, donc sans être réellement actuellement bourguignon, cela reste un chant qui fait référence à une période où le Nord de la France, et la Flandre plus généralement, était sous contrôle bourguignon. C'est donc plutôt logiquement bourguignon et picard.

C'est en tout temps un chant picard car il a été inventé et exécuté (dans le sens chanté) par des picards, et sa portée symbolique continue d'agir sur la Picardie moderne. Dans le domaine du XVe siècle, siècle de sa création, il s'agit d'un chant politiquement parlant "bourguignon" entre guillemets car il était en l'honneur de l'état bourguignon mais dont le domaine d'existence se limite au XVe siècle. Et cet état bourguignon n'est pas la Bourgogne en tant que région culturelle, dont il dépassait de loin les limites "ethniques" et englobait bien d'autres régions dont la Picardie ou le Brabant. Donc, pour conclure, on ne peut pas le dire picard et bourguignon de la même façon. La politique n'est pas le folklore et vice-versa. En cela, ce chant est picard dans le sens qu'il appartient culturellement et folkloriquement à la Picardie, et ceci indépendamment de l'époque. De l'autre côté, il n'est bourguignon que dans le cadre géopolitique des circonstances de sa création, soit une époque où un picard était politiquement bourguignon. Or, tout comme un picard était un bourguignon au XVe siècle, mais ne l'est plus depuis longtemps aujourd'hui, ce chant était bourguignon en son temps, mais ne l'est plus aujourd'hui. Donc pour nous, gens du XXIe siècle, c'est avant tout un chant picard, car l'état bourguignon n'est plus d'actualité, et qu'à appeler un picard un bourguignon aujourd'hui l'on passerait pour un insensé. Mais, dans le cadre de son époque, il est bourguignon par la politique, par l'état bourguignon, mais n'est pas bourguignon par la région de Bourgogne comme un habitant de Dijon le serait.

A vassal of simultaneously the French king and the Holy Roman Emperor (through specifics of inheritance), bearing the name from an ancient Germanic people, Burgundy rose to become a de-facto independent state, but after the death of its son-less Duke Charles the Bold was divided between the French king (Nevers county and Duchy of Burgundy) and the Holy Roman Emperor (Burgundian Circle). Its heraldry became very important for the realms under von Habsburg dynasty (Cross of Burgundy in Spain and Belgium, the Holy Fleece Order in Austria). This song is about Picard and Burgundian soldiers from the time of Charles the Bold's daughter Mary of Burgundy, who married the Austrian Archduke (and future Holy Emperor) to oppose the French king. The remaining Burgundian lands became the Burgundian Circle of the HRE, however, Duchy of Burgundy proper and Picardia had to be given up to the French. An anthem is just a rousing song identified with a group, this may not be an official national anthem but it is still a Burgundian Anthem
