One of my dislikes was the black & white instructions 😅 I wish you the best for your build mate 👍

Dear Steve, Here I was, trying to mask the upper surface of the FW190, (I gave up- I dislike masking), and listening in. This Lancaster looks like it might turn out nicely- in your hands I’m certain it will. The underslung lights were for correctly setting altitude above the water- as you mention, the lights merged to indicate the correct height. The other two factors, speed and distance from target were a different matter. Speed was governed by the pilot’s airspeed indicator whilst distance to target was measured by triangulation. A device with two upright pointers a set distance apart to match the towers of the target dam was used by the bomb aimer. Bomb release was when the pointers and towers matched. I shall look in on this- I thought about a dambuster Lancaster, but as you say £600 is a lot of anyone’s cash!! Regards, Z

Thanks, Zin! I appreciate the info. I knew there was more too it; but alas, I couldn't locate it in the dusty attic enclosed in my skull... 😆 You flatter me. I don't mask either (unless she asks me to... 😏), which solidifies my Rank Amateur status... 😎

Yep. 600 pounds buys a lot of kits. Was at a model show today and the Border Models Lancaster was only $ 750 Canadian at some vendors. Down from places here that have it for $ 1000 CAD. Yeah, right, gonna take 2 of them. Lots of HK 1/32 kits and the 400, 400, 500 CAD $ price range, well, I will just mosey on over here to see the stuff I can afford. However for those than can afford them and have the skills to build them, they are rewarding kits.

The live stream was fun. Too bad the sender did not pack it in a box. You think they would want a better review on their website. Nice kit. I have an early Revell Germany version of this kit, white box, real box art and kit # H-202. Either late 60s or early 70s date.

Thanks, Garfield! I enjoyed it, too. I was really hoping I could remediate it into a nice build, but at 11 bucks, it's not worth the time investment. I'm expecting this new one to be quite good.

Here I am! Right on cue! 👍🏻 That Revell Boxart is truly bad!?😩 ...but, POS is about right if it's up to usual Revell standards? 😉🤭

Yes, this is an example of one of their 'bad old 'uns.' Poor fit, seams don't cement well and the plastic is brittle. And the flash, oh, the flash! 😱 But, for $11.00, it gave me some practice. The only praise is for the landing gear and wheels -- they were very well done... And it has figures.

@@stevesmodelbuilds5473 Yes those old Revell USA kits are lacking. They and Lindberg, However from a time when kids just built it out of the box. Then displayed with thumbprints all over it. in some cases fun times, but in other cases a disapopintment.

The times when someone complained about "truth in advertising" for model kits. No great artwork, no war.battle scenes; just show a picture of the completed model. This was a bad decision as kids would say I can not build it that good so I will not buy it. Hated those days of the picture of completed model'.

Given how badly posted it was, it arrived in surprisingly good condition? 😳

Hi Peter! Yes, all seems to be in good order.
