I review the 2012 Infiniti G37x Sedan to see how it performs and how its aged after 10 years on the road. These days, its a solid value and provides a great driving experience with its 7,500 rpm redline, great sounding V6 and good handling dynamics, even with its AWD system. What do you think about the G37 sedan? Thanks to ThatWasherNerd for providing his car for me to review! Check out his channel here: / @thatwashernerd

I daily a 2013 g37 journey sedan (non awd), such a great daily - fuel economy isnt horrible, power is more than adequate (ripped off a 4.9 as my best 0-60), everything he said in the video is true - very under rated little sedan, the engine is bulletproof (it has been around for a long time now) - has a timing chain, self adjusting valves - basically the motor will go 300k miles on oil changes. The weak point of these cars is the 7AT, its a good transmission for daily driving and occasional spirited driving but it just isnt super responsive and likes to upshift even in sports mode (but you can control it with manual shifting). Overall the car is basically a 4 door 370z (same drive train, interchangeable parts). I am keeping mine as long as it runs.

Yeah I've only had an issue with a a sunroof drain . If you have water collecting in the floorboard, it's not your wind shield. The drains run down your A pillars and out the firewall and get clogged . Not a big deal . I had a cat converter go out at 100k , that's it .

109K, stock cats, Q300 exhaust. That 7AT will last IF you don't crawl in traffic on any regular basis. It just doesn't like the 5-10-20-25-15-30 mph slinky jerk that slow traffic causes, line pressure suffers as a given gear tries to make it into partial lock then reverts back to previous gear. No turtle traffic? Those clutch packs, that valve body will last a loooong time. It's a weak point only if you don't know what it doesn't like... the old 5AT was more of a tank than the mpg-friendly 7AT (5AT was also simpler, and had more appropriate gearing to do road course in 2nd-3rd-4th).

I had a 2011 G37x for 9 years and ~185,000 miles. Extremely minimal repairs, didn't burn or leak oil, and everything worked. Best car I've owned, and the last great Japanese car IMO. A bit more insulation, ZF8 or equivalent transmission and a rear limited slip, and it'd be a world class car today, some 10 years later. The Q50 is but a shadow of the G37, even the RS400.

@@OGkush69x it really depends on what you are looking for. The non sport model is definitely a bit more softly sprung so it is a little more comfortable. However, the sport seats and paddle shifters in the S are not available on the “base” model. It’s all a matter of personal preference.

Nice to see you revisit some old cars Matt, nothing wrong with the newest ones coming out but for many they are looking at the used cars and coming back to something years after they were initially reviewed to see how they held up is awesome. I'm biased as I own an 09 G37 but I'd say they are still some of the best used cars on the market that has something for everyone and are super reliable, the interior design age'd really well and the material choices was for the most part really good. I still get compliments when people get into my car despite it turning 14 this year, granted I'm OCD with my cars so my interior looks brand new and I have made some small updates like LED lighting in the interior but that's a $10 upgrade. One small correct however is that the G37 never came with a Manual for the AWD versions it was exclusively an automatic, that said it was available on every other trim for that generation.

I’ve done some fairly extensive upgrades on mine (suspension, tune, wheels, intake, exhaust etc) and the aftermarket support for these is stellar. So many great companies making parts for these. I would highly suggest them to anyone who is interested and I truly believe these will go up in value in the future. Either way, I’ll be keeping mine for as long as possible.

ATTESA-ETS is wonderful, going back to mid-2000's G sedans that came with AWD. For some reason the torque split in BMW 3-series w/ xDrive is not great for snow drifting, that's according to a 2012 335i xDrive owner who was following me in a storm. "It can't do that man. I have a 2013 G37S sedan with a 6-speed in pretty good condition and so glad I got it when I did. The combo of a N/A 6-spd Sedan is such a rarity that I want to hold on to it for as long as I can. The ONLY thing I don’t like is the rear seats don’t fold down. The pandemic has also slowed down wracking up miles so I think she’s gonna last me for a long time! It really is a great sports sedan that went under-appreciated. Infiniti listened to the critics and refined the Q50 and all of a sudden everyone appreciated the rawness of the G37. Anyway, great review! If you were in the Houston area I’d def let you use it to get a feel of the manual! SN: As someone mentioned, the manual was only available with the sport package.

the best sedan to start off for a 20-year-old, I love my G, start off in a Honda CRV, and wanted to start getting into cars, after extensive research I got this car!!! mines 2013 G37X Sedan, note" the 2013 and I believe the 12, have a metal oil gallery gasket, this is a common fail point in this engine in older models because they use a paper/ cork material, other points are HVAC heater hoses the passenger side in the back of the engine, is a hose connected to the cabin bay, this hose has a plastic connection joint that will break due to heat, basically causing the car to leak coolant and possibly overheat your engine. I fixed this part as soon as I could with a metal joint and new hoses with it. The rear diff bussing will go out if you like to do sprited driving, or in general, could break over time, this causes wheel hop, another fail point will be the power steering pump, but that's only if you stress the pump enough, I've learned the hard way by turning off the AWD completely an having a little fun lol. like I said the pump shouldn't be an issue as long as you don't stress it a lot depending on miles of the car too, and who had it last. Besides that it's been a fucking great car, ez to work on, fun to drive, would highly recommend. Just keep up on oil changes and check/replace all other fluids ofc and these cars should last! I change mine every 3K for good measure with my driving it gets dark quick, but 5k or 6k should do you just fine.

I have a 2008 G35X, same body panels and platform as this. It has a 3.5 HR variant of the VQ engine with a 5 speed automatic transmission. Car has had 0 major mechanical issues during my ownership but the seat is ripped and the steering wheel is showing some wear. Some electrical stuff like the automated seat positioning is not functioning. My Steering doesn't feel light at all, but it doesn't provide much feed back. You easily get some tail out fun as the power is rear biased. I would rate the handling as good but not great. Ride is firm and feels good on all surfaces except when you hit a big pot hole it sends a jolt thru the car. Power is good revs up to 7500rpm, but doesn't sound good at high RPM in my opinion.

Yeah I've heard other people say the steering has some weight to it kind of like BMW. Never heard anyone say it was light. This was when they still had the hydraulic steering before they changed to the light electric steering for the q50.

Had a 2013 G37X sedan. Put 160k miles on it (took good care of it, kept up with regular maintenance). Only problems were rusted out exhaust (lots of road salt where I live) and a bent drive shaft (not the cars' fault...a shovel fell off a dump truck in front of me at 70mph and I still got it replaced under warranty). Best car I ever owned. Got a truck after out of necessity but I miss this car all the time.

All time great car, with an all time great reviewer. PS: tell the owner the g35 is better haha. But seriously, the G's were a force to be reckoned with in the 2000's. A TON of car for the less than competitors and at times looked better than all of them (g35 in 2003 looked way better than the MB and the 330ci). Continental ultra performance extremecontact tires make for a great ride. Tinted windows. Bluetooth, a fantastic Bose sound system. A backseat with plenty of room to fit my kids. I had a 2005 G35. It was a nice car. It was a 4-door and I regret not getting the coupe. The interiors weren't the best but the engine and chassis were great. It was an enjoyable car, for sure. I was tempted by the Acura TL of the time because the interior was nicer, but I wasn't into what seemed to me to be a nose heavy FWD car. I certainly don't regret that at all. I remember driving the G37 and thought that the throttle was a bit too sensitive, however, it was plenty powerful.
