Very nice video and I agree with your final call on the best one. Being a newer solo singer / (furture songwriter), I'm considering the Everse 8. As I progress from mostly playing at open mics to getting paying gigs at a restaurant that has it's own PA, I want to have a not too expensive but portable system for other opportunities as they arise. In the next few weeks, I might start hosting an open mic at a coffee shop and the Everse app would be a great tool for EQ'ing different guitars and singers on the fly.

Great Video 👍🏼. Almost Sold my CP8s for the Everses BUT I Prefer Power/Loudness over PortabilityConvenienceso I’m keeping them. Getting a ThumpGo Instead… it’ll get the job done and it’s cheaper than the EV also.

Great review, I’m a guitarist who plays all kinds of events! I’ve had the cp8 since they came out. It’s been rock solid,I also have the s1pro which is great for the right things. I usually bring both and choose which one I’m going to use based on the setup (or use them in combination) I have had the jbl also and hate the app and lighted digital controls, they don’t work well in the Florida sun. I had the JBL cut off at a ceremony due to the Florida heat. Any Qsc products I have had sound great and are reliable.

Love your speaker reviews! I want to start playing out on the street with my daughter and the EV is tempting. So versatile, convenient and compact. My only concern is powering effects pedals and/or a possible battery sub that would compliment the EV. A sub isn’t priority atm though. We’d just be playing acoustic w/effects, ukulele and vocals with some occasional looping. Thanks again for another great comparison.

Thanks for your positive feedback:) The Everse 8 is excellent for busking. If you need more bass the next step up is the JBL EON MK2, but of course their is a huge size/weight difference. MK2 is also more $$$ but you get a 7 year warranty. Have you seen this video? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mtGPZ6R52q-0iqs.html

@@Mdogbrown If you are comparing just sound, the JBL is in another league from the EV! JBL has a full range sound with bass that sounds almost like a stand alone small 10" subwoofer. To match that sound you NEED to add a subwoofer to the EV. JBL also has a smoother/fuller HI-fi like midrange. JBL is also more room filling with a wider dispersion. Also consider JBL 7 year warranty vs 3 years for EV. JBL has more inputs. If you don't mind the extra $$$, more weight/size and an App that isn't as player friendly, get the MK2! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mtGPZ6R52q-0iqs.html

Hi Bill thanks as always for such informative and helpful videos! I've been considering the Everse 8 and your points about the volume difference has me much more strongly considering a QSC, especially given I can run them off a portable battery (Ive got the Ecoflow River max, @ 576Wh) as you demonstrate in your videos. Do you have any experience with the CP12 vs the CP8? At only $100 more it seems like the CP12 could offer a sweet spot of extra low end in lieu of a CP8 with a sub. The Yamaha DXR10 also seems like a winner. Also, whats your recommendation for a portable mixer? Thanks a ton!
@WWeiss-nv5vz
@WWeiss-nv5vz Жыл бұрын
I don't know your application. CP8 with sub would be my choice. Yes CP12 will give more bass but nothing like a dedicated sub. If you don't mind the 30 lbs weight the CP12 is 2dB louder. CP8 has better dispersion at 90 degrees vs CP12's 75 degrees. If using one speaker CP8 would have better coverage. People who want one speaker without a sub usually go with a 15". Portable mixers: Yamaha MG line depending on how many inputs needed or Mackie Pro FX line. Allen and Heath ZED 10FX is also very popular.
@mikeconover7602
@mikeconover7602 Жыл бұрын
@@WWeiss-nv5vz Thanks a lot Bill, helpful to hear that Id want a 15" if I wasn't planning on using a sub. My application is off grid looped musical performances, with guitar, bass, and a drum pad all running through Ableton. At this point Im leaning toward the DXR10 and eventually getting a sub. Ive not tried it yet but it seems to get great reviews. Thanks as well for the mixer recommendations, that Yamaha MG looks perfect!

@@mikeconover7602 DXR10 would be excellent, make sure to compare to QSC K10.2 Another great choice if you can handle the 50 lbs weight is the QSC KW122, best low end I have heard without a sub! An all in one column such as Bose Pro16/EV50/RCF J8 would probably meet your needs?? Not sure audience size you are playing to. All good for 150 people. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mMupatGJ1NeodHk.html

@@WWeiss-nv5vz Alirght thats great to hear! Ive been looking into the K10.2 and it seems like the DXR10 holds its own from what Ive been reading from people, and is a fair amount cheaper. The KW122 looks like a beast! Unfortunately a bit more than Id like to be lugging around for gigs though... My game plan would be to eventually get a sub with the DXR10, possibly the Turbosound IP15b, so I'd be curious how you thought that set up would compare to those column arrays in terms of volume and sound quality. I do like the modular ability to just use the PA by itself when needed and a PA on a sub also just seems a bit sturdier and more durable in the long run than some of those columns with how they all connect together. They seem to take the cake when it comes to sound dispersion though.

Always enjoy your videos 🍺 I’m looking at a small but loud (with good audio quality) portable speaker. I have a 300w portable power station with a 105ah battery. Do you think it would power the CP8 and for how long if you had to guess? Alternatively I like the Mackie thump go and I see HK also have a small portable PA (the HK Pro move 8). What would you recommend? Cheers from South Africa
@NukePooch1
@NukePooch1 Жыл бұрын
Your power station should power the CP8 without issue. Specs on CP8 show power consumption at 230V as approximately 0.33A right at clipping (South African standard is 230V?). That's 75 watts...with the speaker cranked, but not clipping. There's always losses in power conversions from battery stations, but you should be able to easily run a single CP8 for a full day or two, if not more.

It will power the CP8 easily for 4-6 hours. Run time depends how loud you play?? The CP8 is an easy load. I run it on a 150 watt power station with no problem. At normal volume say 85dB it only uses 44 watts! At clipping red 110dB only uses 65 watts.

i know this is an old video, but EV has set their limit light to flash well before it even starts clipping. I can hit about 116dB easily outdoors with my Everse 8. Ive been playing these hard for the last 3 months and still going strong. EV screwed up making that LIMIT warning flash so early before the threshold. I have no dog in this fight, just stating facts about my experiences with the Everse 8
@WWeiss-nv5vz
@WWeiss-nv5vz 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. I actually called EV tech support and they said the Everse has 3dB more headroom after the limit light before any damage is done. Old pros say don't even look at a limit light. Use your ears, if it sounds distorted, turn it down. 116db outside is incredible! I would be worried about excessive heat at that max volume which will shorten the life. You've been good for 3 months but remember EV doesn't have the 6 or 7 year warranty that QSC or Yamaha give. If you fry the voice coil from excessive volume/heat. repair can tell and it voids the warranty.

Good day friend, I'll tell you, I have had the QSC CP8 for some time and the truth is that speaker is very good and powerful... but I want to change to the EV Everse 8 because it has everything in one, that is, it has a battery and also an equalizer. and it is much more practical in that part, I know that in sound power both are very similar since the QSC has 123db and the Everse 8 121db, for that part I like that, what I don't know is if the Everse 8 sounds as powerful with A microphone like the QSC. Is that what I'm interested in knowing? Friend, can you help me with that because in the case of the QSC it has a MIC BOOST button that gives a lot of power to your vocals and I don't see that same button on the Everse 8 and that's why I don't know if it sounds just as hard with a microphone anymore. I like to use it especially for karaoke friend, I hope you can help me

Everything else is extra I don’t even do my own labor and that only gets you 3 hrs… and yes a minimal system, controller, wireless mic, and two of either the speakers would be at least 1900

I feel for you! Everything is so expensive. The only thing I can say, from my experience, if you get quality gear like QSC with 6 years of warranty, DJ's are running gear that is still reliable after 15-20 years! Invest once and be done with it.
