I used abused this field tool for 3 years .. Bloody good tool guys really.. Best £20 spent it sharpens to a razor and stays sharp .. mines came with a rod .. It's the King of the budget knifes hands down..

Great video. I lucked into a small number of the OK 4 knives in the U. S. Best $20.00 go to knife I've ever had. It goes into the bush with me on every outing.

Very good, thorough review of the OK4. I love this knife! I like it better than the Mora Companion HD and the Mora Robust Pro. I don’t use the nylon belt sleeve though. I carry it Mors Kochansky style around my neck with a piece of paracord by unsnapping the button flap and making a simple larks head knot through the top of the button slot and then snapping the flap closed. This is a very secure way to carry the knife and it’s always handy when you need it.

Great review mate. I love my OK4 I agree with you it has a winning handle, great blade shape/length and sheath is just perfect for me. It's a light weight and brutally strong knife...though the SK5 steel loses it's edge rather quickly but sharpens really quickly as well. It's equal to it's rival the Bushcraft Black for sure.

Nice budget friendly bushcrafter. If it came just a little longer like the Mora Bushcraft Black, it would be perfect. I like the extra blade length, but this would surely do the trick..a bit less money than the Mora Bushcraft model. Nice!

Hey Jake! Good review of a great knive. The handle , the grippy material, is it the same as what's being used by Steel Will? I have a Druid and the handle on it is really super grippy.

Just bought one a week ago on Amazon for $22. Let me start the edge needed a little refinement. Other then that this is a 10. This is a hidden jem. I can't say enough. My favorite outdoor knives for real survival are this Hultafor OK4, BPS adventurer, mora Garberg, last a mora companion. If it was good enough for Mors kochanski who am I to argue. My experience goes back from boy scouts then army Rangers. I was part of Ranger school, first Florida then Utah then Texas/New Mexico. So I'm experienced in extreme cold the high mountains and the swamps of Florida to the woods in North East. Anyway my point I'm making is a survival knife is the one you have on you. So it's best to carry a knife and know it's strengths and weaknesses. Everything you see about big knives is marketing. Anyway this is a knife I can't recommend enough.

Not sure why the Hultafors website says OK4 is 2.5 mm thick and OK 1 is 3 mm thick...u reckon they might've changed the specs? Also, regarding sharpening scandis, I think I've seen a similar vid from, IIRC, Kyle Noseworthy. I had wondered at that time also about scandis with a secondary bevel (Mora Bushcraft black, terava jakaaripuuko etc). What would your advice be for sharpening that sort of a blade?

i just use the Hultafors craftmans knife with advanced grip, dose the job just as well and a hell alot cheaper lol

Your theory on sharpening scandi's looks correct. But if you sharpen a saber grind or full flat, you're getting thicker and thicker behind the grind, unless you continually remove blade stock as well. Seems like you'd be removing less material on a true scandi to keep the original grind.

Have the GK. Was thinking of making the edge full Scandi. Has anyone done this? Already flattened the spine on stones for improved sparks.

Based on your review I purchased this knife from Big Bear Tools. When received it was a concern that the knife did not arrive in the original packaging and was wrapped in packaging paper. Good price though at $32 Cdn. Tried to cut paper with the OK4 and found out it was shipped very blunt compared to the Mora I recently purchased. So I reprofiled on my whetstones to a true Scandi grind and now almost as sharp as the Mora. So if you are willing to do some work on the OK4 you are shipped, a good purchase.

Hi Jake i have hultafors GK used 2years in forest and this knife is very similar to OK4. Holster and short edge is weekes point of this knife -but for this money this knife is OK. Imo better is Mora 2000 or Viking but no carbon steel..

A jeans rivet button works. You can buy them and put anywhere you want.

Ordered mine after i saw some guy online Trying to destroy it (ramming on steel (piercing it, stone, bending, bashing lol). Succeeded at some point but the effort it took was beyond rediculous. This thing will not let you down it seems. And its 20 euros 🤣

Certainly in Europe is cheaper than US and I got one to compare it with my Morakniv collection. The handle is great because on the extremes have a hard polymer and the rest is rubberized and give a good and ergonomic grip and it is big enough for my middle size hands. The handle is very comfortable when compared with the full hard polymer of i.e. Morakniv Garberg. On the other hand the blade size is small if compared with the Morakniv models more oriented to bushcraft, to be honest I was disappointed with such small blade if compared with the proportion of the handle. The biggest negative point is that the blade was not sharp at all and I was not able to cut anything with the factory edge. Other negative point is that you cannot buy it with stainless steel only carbon. The sheet has a good ramp to extract the knife but certainly is cheap solution, not better than Morakniv. The measurement rule on the blade is totally useless as most likely will disappear with coding after the knife use. Maybe this brand is good for working tools and utilitarian knifes but for buschcraft or outdoors forget about it, buy a Morakniv. I will use it for tasks where I won't mind to destroy the knife. Morakniv shall learn a bit with the handle, nothing else I could see that might be better not even the price, I will have a better sharp tool with an Opinel for less than the half price.

10:12 that's not how sharpening works, lmao the whole thing moves up 11:17 is how it works on any grind, the scale is just larger

The sharpening explanation is completely wrong. NOBODY sharpens their knives at a different angle each time. EVERYBODY sharpens their knives at a certain angle so you don't get a flat edge at the end but rather you reshape the edge and each time you sharpen your knife you HAVE to take more and more steel in order to keep that angle that you are used to and to make it as sharp.
