REVIEW: TOMY Sonic Collector Series Plush - Spring 2018!

Since the beginning, the TOMY Sonic line has been a wild ride. Since 2014, TOMY has been producing high quality Sonic plushes, even their Sonic Boom plushes were very well done and hold up very well. In 2017, TOMY released their first wave of Collector Series Modern & Classic Sonic plushes. Now, here we have the first wave of the 2018 line up of TOMY Sonic plushes. Including plushes of Sonic, Amy, Eggman, Vector, a Neutral Chao, and Classic Super Sonic.
This wave of plushes has been highly anticipated, and contains many plushes that are an absolute game-changer in the Sonic merchandise community. Let's talk about them!

Patmac, I was recently recommended your channel and I've been binging your videos. I love your stuff a lot, your criticisms and reviews are enjoyable, and I can really feel how much you care about your hobby in the way you talk about everything. I just wanted to chime in that it was extremely surreal to start seeing new chao plushes being made because my entire family was obsessed with chao when SA2B came out and we all greatly coveted the rare UFO catcher chao, but it was so rare and we were poor, we never got it. My mom got really into sewing her own chao as a result (at first, just to make them for me and my siblings, but then it branched into an online business). I think back really fondly on those times. The demand for chao plushes was so high that her waitlist always had over one hundred people on it. Her specialty was doing custom designs of people's chao that they either sent her photos of, or drew themselves. :) It makes me weirdly happy to see new chao plush nowadays in Targets because I remember how ravenous all us kids were for chao merch, and now it's so easily available, AND the TOMY chao look great. I'm glad you're as excited about chao as I am!!

This has to be one of the best comments I've ever gotten. First off, thank you so much! It means a lot to hear you enjoy my videos, and also that you're such a huge fan of Chao. Sonic is my favorite franchise, and Chao are one of the things I like most about the series, so they mean a lot to me. I'm so baffled at how Sonic Team completely fumbled and basically abandoned Chao after SA2B, they totally could have branched them into their own franchise. I'm certain that if Chao remained a major part of Sonic, the series would be much more popular nowadays. With that said, I am fairly confident we'll see them return soon. The new merch being made, the constant Chao references on the Sonic social media accounts, and Chao being a playable character in Team Sonic Racing instead of other more standard characters, makes me believe that SEGA have realized what they have and are working on normalizing them into the series again. As for your mom's business, that sounds so cool! I wonder if I know some people who have some of the ones your mom made! I have some friends who collected so many custom Chao, though I personally have none. People still make a ton of custom Chao plushes though and they sell so well, I have no idea how it's taken SEGA this long to realize their demand. I do however have the SA1 Neutral Chao UFO plush, though the NiGHTS Chao and SA2 Hero Chao are still top of my want list. The day I get that Hero Chao plush will be one of the best days of my time collecting lol. Yeah, seeing TOMY release new Chao plushes and figures was the best thing to come out of their line I believe. Jakks Pacific is now making Sonic merchandise for this year and beyond, so I hope they continue what TOMY started with Chao. They totally should have their own toy license, since you could make endless plushes or figures of them. Make a cool Chao Garden/Kindergarten play-set or something, PLEASE! As a person who owns the entire set, I can confirm that these are amazing plushies and I’m very glad I picked them up when I did. These plushies have definitely gone up in price, especially Chao.

My spouse got me a neutral Chao plush from Target last year because of all the memories I have with the Sonic Adventure (1 and 2) Chao Gardens. Now that I've binge watched your videos about video game plushies and know how big a deal it truly is, I'm even more happy I got my hands on one!

Fantastic review! Although I only have 4 out of the 6 ( The 4 being Classic Super Sonic, Chao, Eggman/Robotnik, and Amy ) I will most likely pick up the outstanding Vector plush. I also can't wait to hold a Dark Chao in my hands a couple months from now..

This video is what convinced me to pick up the Classic Super Sonic plush when I just happened to make a stop at Target for the holidays. I could have got the Chao too, but not a big deal. Thanks to you, I have this cool guy. It looks a lot better than the ones in this video, besides the legs being a little stitched too much to one side, so you were right about the wonky quality control lol

Just yesterday I got the Classic Super Sonic plush, and it's amazing! It seems to be the same as the one you have, but the eyes are more symmetrical. But yeah, the 2 you showed looked very different, but this plush is definitely my favourite of all time. Great video dude!

That example for the Chao Plush is exactly what I did. I went to Target just to see what they have, saw a Chao plush and couldn't believe my eyes. Bought it that day. It was my first Sonic plush. Haven't gotten another one, but thought about getting a Tails one.

I really hope you return to making videos on new plush releases like this someday! I really want to hear your thoughts on newer plushes that one could more reasonably potentially get their hands on, even if the videos end up shorter due to a lack of history to go over. I would have never found out about the Chao plushes from last year if not for these videos, and I don’t know if I could live without them! Also just a very minor note, as a plush lover one of the things I care most about is the softness of the fabric, but it can often be very difficult to tell from online photos alone, so I would be super appreciative if you gave a softness rating in reviews like these where you have the plush physically! Thank you again for these videos, they’re some of my absolute favorites ever.

Targets seem to be getting a pretty good amount of them in. I'd say check Brickseek to see if your local store has gotten more in (I linked it in the description, it's a Target inventory checker).

Why the heck Bizak cancelled the TOMY Sonic collection? A lot of people in Spain are diying to have one Classic Super Sonic. Now seriously that's a shame, also, great video as always, it's great to have a channel with this high quality reviews.
